About This Game

Ask most historical strategy gamers about World War Two and not many would have thought there were any tank battles in the Pacific Theatre of World War Two. They did happen, and they happened often, but they never matched the scale of the Western Theatre. Starting in China in the 1930’s the Chinese engaged the Japanese using Russian T26’s and German Panzer I’s. The Japanese fought the Russians in 1939 and 1945, the Soviets with the one of the world’s greatest generals, Zhukov, in command! In 1941 the French in Vietnam briefly fought the Japanese with World War One era tanks. In Burma and India, British Commonwealth forces regularly engaged in battle using equipment that would have been considered obsolete on the West Front. Finally the titanic struggle between the Japanese and United States of American resulted in dozens of tank engagements. Even the Island War battles saw some engagements with over 30 Japanese tanks in a single mass assault. Tank Battle: Pacific attempts to create many of these battles with a mixture of historical battles and themed scenarios that capture the experience of being a tank commander in the Pacific Theatre in World War Two. Fight battles between Japan, France, China, Russia, British Commonwealth and The United States of America. The game has a wide range of features from the tank battles of Northern Manchuria to the battlefields of Burma and the landings on the Pacific Islands. The game even includes a what-if scenario for Operation Olympic, the invasion of the Japanese homelands.

Tank Battle:Pacific is a good game,it's not frilly by any means and I would like rather bigger maps. It's hard to deploy un-noticed,I think " Civil War Bull Run" handled this a bit better. But those gripes apart there is not much else to moan about. There are different campaigns ,various settings for each , and these are interesting, largely forgotten battles...And they are quite tough scraps - I let the Commonwealth down badly and got creamed by some Japanese paras who just kept infiltrating my crumbling defences. It's tactically sound and requires hard fighting and the right tactics. Ok, in the time I played I encountered no bugs ,crashes or hangups it ran nicely and unbothered on Windows 7x 64 bit.The music and the sound effects are great. There was nothing that seemed silly or unlkely... ...

Missions in this one are extremely unfair and difficult. The others, I did not experience this with, but the timers are so short and so ridiculously unfun and unfair that it ruins the game for me completely. Unless you do EXACTLY what they want you to do in each mission, failure is almost a certainty. This isn't strategy or tactics, that's just a puzzle.

Where else can you fight Chinese vs. Japanese armies in the 1930s? Or fight the Mongolian skirmishes of Soviet vs. Japanese Imperial army? Or the tank attack against the US at Saipan? Right here, that's where. Typical if the Hexwars tank games - fun, not too serious, worth the buy.

Enjoyable "old fashioned" hex based game. No problems seen in 5 hours play.

Another very fun and enjoyable turn based strategy WWII game It's not realistic, not a simulation and doesn't really recount any historical events in a detailed manner but if you're a WWII history buff then this is a very enjoyable game. Maybe a little bit expensive for the length but if you can get on sale, go for it

Not sure if this is a mobile port, but it sure plays like one. Poor balance. Extremely short campaigns that have no actual connection between missions. No ability to choose deployments or troop distributions. Nothing innovative or noteworthy about the gameplay. Worth a try if you can get it for under $4, but not even close at full price. [Edit] Unfortunately, the more I play, the worse the game gets. The mechanics are very poor (no ability for tanks and guns to shoot over infantry? That's core doctrine), The campaigns are too short and with odd choices for scenarios. The damage dealt is imbalanced, and I've run into a few maddening bugs. I am no longer sure the game is even worth in when on sale.
