Compared to the companies other products like City of Chains and Mercury: Cascade into Madness, this feels really amateurish. If you just like killing monsters with minimal world interaction and people to talk to and places to to explore, then this might be for you.

About This Game
Something very important was stolen from the council – a high value item required for a new device that could bridge the gap between the physical realm and the realm of phantoms. Who did this and why is unknown, but the city guard hired two mercenaries to find and retrieve this item in return for a hefty sum – Agela, a young, somewhat brash, and quick-witted archer, and her smarty pants imp sidekick Ingus.
Agela and Ingus will have to infiltrate their way into crime-ridden slums, as well as a whole host of underground and treacherous locations in order to get the job done. On their journey they are guided by a phantom ally, Angadani, who appears from time to time to update them with useful information. A simple fetch job quickly becomes more complex as more factions become involved and set their eyes on the precious item. It's more than they bargained for, but to Agela and Ingus, giving up is not an option!
Features:
- Not your typical fantasy setting. Medieval look and non-human races, but more with a modern day dynamic – gangs, crime-infested slums, city councils instead of kings in castles, and science instead of magic.
- Strategic turn-based battle system which includes skills with unique areas of effect.
- Fully voice acted
- Weapon and Armour upgrading – find specific items which can be used to add a variety of stat bonuses to your equipment, but do so wisely, because each weapon and armour has a limited number of upgrade slots.
- First part of a larger story
- In addition to story mode, challenge yourself with consecutive battles in arena mode
- Two difficulty modes: Normal and Brazen
- Puzzles to solve and secret areas to find!

I thouroughly enjoyed that one. I thought I would break a bit the game while I played on the higest setting and the game gave me all the misery it could muster against me. Nice place to experiment a voiced game. It is a dungeon crawler and I thought it would be linear and what made it different is that the character don't level up. All is tactical with equipment maintenance and abilities and not that much money to get by. I noticed in some cases the loot was randomized. You have to be careful where you save and sometimes chose to give a long walk and make breathe your characters before the next encounter. Also, folks who are now knowing the creator of the game might know there is also a politic intrigue behind the curtain so it is something that works on many levels. I would recommend it; it grows very fast on the player.
Well, that's just another cute little story with a lot of rooms to discover and enemies to kill. I liked how the development of weapons was created , I never seen such stuff for a long time, the voice acting is pretty good as well. So bad that it had finished on the most interesting part and now we have just to play it in our fantasies to find the answers of this game...I hope that someday it would be finished at last...till than, good luck))
No, do not waste your time or your money, if I was to rate this game on a 1-100 scale I would give it a 38/100 and if they were to add more chapters, it might get a 40/100. It isnt even worth a dollar because its simply too basic, as if someone kept all default settings on an RPG auto-generator. The story, combat and upgrading systems are as basic as the graphics and voice acting, nothing memorable and nothing about the game stirs up any sort of nostalgia. It simply isnt charming, memorable or even a little deep and I cannot recall having felt more let down by how basic a game was since I beat Dragon Warrior 1 again as an adult. I am not even going to say the game has promise, because there isnt an area where they showed even the slightest hint of greatness.
There's something quite charming about this game and I have to admit I'm enjoying playing it. I have ticked the recommended box but I do have some reservations. I was enjoying it so much I decided I would see what other episodes were available or forthcoming only to read in the discussions page that the dev has put episode 2 on hold while they work on some other game. I feel a bit disapointed because when I buy a game with episode 1 in the title I expect there will be an episode 2 and really it isn't guarenteed. I'm now reluctant to continue playing this episode in case I get invested in the game only to be let down. I know the dev says they will get back to it because they have invested money in it but I have learnt on steam that once a game gets shelved, they often remain shelved no matter what they say.

Warning: Broken Game!
This game has design/implementation defects that will render this unplayable for many gamers. The game fails to launch and while the "developer" provided a workaround (instead of fixing the problem!), the workaround doesn't work. The developer is aware of this and chooses not to remediate the problem. If you decide to buy this game anyway, be aware it may not work. Renegade Grounds: Episode 1 is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. If the game did work, you would find that, as with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD...
yes
Tags: Topdown - RPGMaker & Party RPG Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Unfinished Episodic. Attempt at production values still comes short. Narrative falls flat despite trying. Stiff fetchquest scripting. Trashmob encounters. Pros: +An attempt at a half decent sword & sorcery setting with forgettable but servicable text +There are character abilities to use that are unique to them sort of, just a tweaked magic system really +Xbox360 pad worked +Voice acted Cons -Bland boring city level design, fake choices funnels you down linearity with non interactable environments and locked doors. -Scripting is stiff and you are often stonewalled in progression until you find trigger X buried somewhere -Combat is all repetitive trashmobs where you constantly go through the same ability cycle -Leaves huge sidebars and does not fullscreen correctly. Maximizing window leads to increased blur. -Voice acting drones on and is easy to tune out or want to skip.
I like the weapon and armor upgrade system its quite fun, interesting characters, navigating is a bit annoying with mouse but its nice to be able to use just a mouse. As a rule I wont even buy episodic games anymore, seems they rarely get finished but there does seem to be an episode 2
I found this very boring. No real story, just missions (aka kill them)
