To me, Vicious Attack Llama Apocalypse was what Tesla Vs. Lovecraft should have been. Yes, they are different games at the core, but let me explain. What I like about VALA is that it's a modernized twin-stick wave fighter. It's 'room' based and not necessarily wave based. This slight nuance means all the difference. It doesn't feel so 'dumb' and thoughtless. It also has rogueish elements that add a nice layer of complexity to help combat the braindead act of fighting waves. The humor and polish are great (seriously, those llama puns are nuts). We have four player local co-op. We have metagame unlockables that make you stronger over time and add more variety. And most of all - it's really fun and addicting. Sometimes I even do runs just for the fun of it, and not necessarily with any particular goal in mind. The only downsides I can mention are that I wish it could run on a toaster, and I'm not sure how long the whole game is by looking at un...

User Reviews
While couch co-op is fun it's not always available, really needs to also have a "host" option, direct connect via IP or connect through steam or something option. Still reccomend, the puns are fantastic, the funs are fun, and i love the references to Llamas with Hats and Contra.
See curator page for more reviews.
Not worth the asking price. Game doesn't introduces anything new to the genre or doesn't improves upon anything. What is done here was done better by other titles. Very small enemy type pool, map/environment is boring, weapon system unlock is annoying as it forces you to use weak weapons/weapons you don't like to unlock something stronger. Weapons are unbalanced, laser is much weaker than preceding freeze ray. Drop system seems to be broken, perks barely drop at all, for weapons it seems to prioritise weaker ones, also sometimes dropping same weapons few times in a row. AI seems to be pretty dumb, if there is a little open space it is rather easy to kite enemies. I have seem them also get stuck trying to walk through bus. Unless the game forces you to grind for better weapons in later stages, it seems that experienced players can complete it in just few hours.
Good pace, balance, humor, complexity, and grafix!
I don't like this game very much. It has a fun concept, and is very self-aware of it's cheesy humor. Visually, it looks nice, but it is a bit repetitive (more on that later). The shooting is just meh. You have two guns to manage, so the aiming is slightly "off" since the weapons aim slightly to the left/right of where you are aiming. The weapons themselves are fun, and using them a certain amount unlocks new options. You have pistols, machine guns, lasers, freeze rays, missiles (some homing), grenades, etc. Good stuff. There is even a hose, which basically just keeps the llamas at bay. The whole setup is ripe for creating an effective "build" of two weapons. However, every weapon requires reloads, and the reload time is often an eternity. Personally, I'm not a fan of the reloading (as it exists). The worst is the fact that the llamas are faster than you, it's nearly impossible to kite and shoot them. In some of the more claustrophobic environments it can really be a pain. My bigges...
I never knew killing Llama's could be so fun. Better drop out of school so that I can become a pro.
It's a great game if you wanna sit down for 10 minutes and just forget the world. Theres no deep storyline to keep track of, no complicated controls to memorize etc. Just sit down, blow up some llamas and have some fun. My partner and I enjoyed the snot out of this last night. A few recommendations though: Its very hard and there is no way to regain health once you lost it. Maybe make a few different difficulty modes? When you drop a gun and pick up a new one, theres no way to switch back to the old gun. I often pick up a new gun (which I hate) and then I completely lost the old gun. Overall I definitely recommend this game!
Super fun game, no loading times, gets progressively harder, cause destruction. Con for me there is no save option that i can find.
Edit: Now That I've Beaten It Faster Than Expected Edition Disclaimer - Get this when it's on a good sale. ========== VALA is a slick dual-stick shooter that comes as advertised, and the goofy we're-idiot-college-roommates humor works fine on the side considering all your gametime is almost solely invested in murdering entire small countries worth of llamas. Really the sort of thing I haven't played since Smash TV back when most people reading this review weren't even born or were busy filling diapers. I have no doubt this would be amazing couch co-op for we're-idiot-college-roommates, but for god's sake I got this on Steam and it'd be really swell if I could give the creators more of my paycheck and tax return money by shilling out gift copies for friends who will never play this with me anyway if it had online multiplayer. Just saying. TL;DR - I didn't mean to go past 2 hours of played time so I could refund it but here we are.
Take control of a miniture Titan, purging mutant warp spawned llamas in the name of our glorius Emperor of Mankind. This twin stick shooter has everything a Warhammer 40k fan could ask for... Bolters, Flamers, Kraken missles, even Helfrost weaponry... it's so rare to see that in a 40k game though. Though it's not too high on content, it is VERY fun, and that is enough.
