The Seasons is Miki Squadron Project's first visual novel, released in mid-late 2017. It is one I picked up a while ago and have wanted to read for a bit now. The concept of connecting character arcs based around the seasons intrigued me, and while I didn't go into this expecting anything particularly good, I can say I was underwhelmed. The visual novel is split into 4 short stories, these being in the following order: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Summer and Autumn are undeniably the better stories. Both are really solid, and you get a good sense of character and story out of them. It amazes me that Summer wasn't the opening story, and instead the weakest one (Spring) was. The other two stories are just not good. The plot is all over the place and no effort is made to make the reader care about the characters or make them remotely interesting. This visual novel is something different. At first, I didn't know what to expect from it, but it was great.
