Short version: 65%
If you are ever in the mood for a hidden object game that does everything as safely as possible with an enjoyably mediocre quality, then Amaranthine Voyage 2 is a perfect candidate.
Long version:
Amaranthine Voyage 2: The Living Mountain is a solid piece of craftsmanship that does exactly what we would expect from a hidden object game—nothing less, nothing more. Considering the first Amaranthine Voyage lacked in the writing department, a decent job here also encompasses an actual story, where returning protagonist Sylvia Burns stumbles upon another magical kingdom to end up in a struggle between a tyrant and the local resistance. It is a step in the right direction, albeit not a big one: the disinterested actors make the plot only shamble forwards until it just stops once we run out of new areas. Gameplay is comfortingly average. There are many hidden object scenes (including silhouette-based ones), the conventional puzzles are decent time-wast...

Definitely one of the better hidden object games I've played. Graphics, music, voice acting, story, HO scenes, puzzles, and extra touches like your cute little doggy companion are all top-notch. Not much else to say. If you enjoy these types of games, this one is worth getting. You can tell the developing team put a ton of love into it.

This 2nd entry in the series is a departure from the 1st. The game engine and gameplay are more polished and smooth here, but a confusing, forgettable story make it less compelling. The 1st game was challenging and logical, but this one lacks originality and immersion. It's dialed in. It's an OK, middle-of-the-road hidden-object adventure. Nothing special. I do want to single out and praise the music here. The soundtrack is catchy and excellent.

As far as hidden object game are concerned, it's all there. - levels of difficulties - map (though, there's not too much backtracking to do) - puzzles (not too complex - HOG scenes (locate object by names or silhouettes) + the ZUMA like game as an alternative - in-game achievements (numerous and challenging) Got exactly what I wanted when I bought this one. I'm playing this on Win7 64bit without any issue.
