I should have listened... I never listen! After seeing people say this game is addictive, I decided to try it out. I played 3 runs last night, when I went to bed it was all I could think about! Just got my ass kicked again this morning... I don't think I'll ever beat a run, but I MUST KEEP TRYING

Can't believe that I've let this game rot in my backlog for so long. It's extremly hard but also extremly fun. There's lots to learn. You play with 3 chars, (you can unlock 4th after beating the game) An amazing rougelike with card gameplay. I had to force myself to stop coz it's so addicting

Insane amount of build variance and synergies with different cards, relics and potions. Genre-defining. Also awesome modding community. 10/10

Easily the best Roguelite I have ever played, so much so that I bought the physical edition and own this on mobile, steam and my tablet. This game still has thousands of hours of fun ahead of me and I cant see many other games filling the card game Roguelite space until Slay the Spire 2!

Edit/Note: My review inaccurately states that it's impossible to skip to A20, which is completely incorrect as someone pointed out. While my overall feelings toward the game (and my recommendation of whether or not to play it) ultimately remain the same, given the heavy emphasis I placed upon that part of my review, I want to clarify that you can indeed skip directly to A20 using the Custom game options. I am leaving the actual text of the review unchanged to make the comment on this review and my original thoughts/conclusions more coherent. I don't really like Slay the Spire. That's a weird thing to say, considering I'm still not done with the game and will likely play more in the future. Has the game woven some dark spell over me, holding me hostage despite my desire not to play it?! Well, no, of course not. It does have some good things about it, that I do like. One of the biggest positives is that it makes itself very easy to pick up and put down in any situation, able to stop y...

I've been playing games a long time but I don't buy many new games anymore. I bought this game twice on two different platforms.

Easy to get into a game and takes right off where you left off.

The graphics seem a bit simple at first but the game play loop will drag you in. Every run forces you to think through the strengths and weakness of the cards you collect to try and create a great strategy. Just when you're out of ideas you can stumble into using a card that seemed useless and suddenly, combined with another unique card, you have a seemingly unbeatable combo. Great strategy game for those willing to invest the time.
