RESONANCE OF FATE™/END OF ETERNITY™ 4K/HD EDITION

I regret that this game sat in my backlog for so many years. Tri-Ace deserved far more praise for projects like this than it got at the time. Resonance of Fate/End of Eternity is phenomenal and insane in all of the best ways. If that sounds like an jarring juxtaposition: It's fitting. The game is a visual, audio, and conceptual embodiment of the duality of Man. Visually, it has full range. The massive clockwork setting is fascinating, but washed of most color. Most foreground images are grimy, dirty, dilapidated, and despairing. The backgrounds by comparison, are often breathtaking, inspiring, and even uplifting. Characters are either beautiful, or hideous; there's very little middle-ground on appearance alone. Sometimes they appear hideous, and they behave nobly. Sometimes they appear noble and act truly hideous. tri-Ace are one of the few studios in the JRPG genre that really know how to make great gameplay, and once again they didn’t let me down. This game is an absolute hidden gem and one of the best in the genre. Even though the story is on the shorter side, you still get attached to the characters, and the combat system along with the hex mechanics stays fun right up until the very end.

Resonance of Fate is a very original experience in terms of its gameplay in the JRPG genre, it is most certainly not everyone's cup of tea, but if you can get past the pain of learning the ins-and-outs of the combat system, the game should click, and you will have a lot of fun minmaxing your gun customisations and group formation, and doing sick ass duel wield smg firing somersaults over robots and thugs and ♥♥♥♥. Also the outfit customisation is incredibly stylish, and the game looks amazing - long live the grey/brown and piss-filter seventh generation of gaming!! Thats not to mention the beautiful and (while slightly obtuse in comprehending) unique story and world that this game places you in.
