A huge improvement on the original game. It has better combat, better weapons, a better parry system and more variety. The movesets and finishers for weapons have also been upgraded significantly. If you haven't played the first game, do so, because the story in part 2 is a continuation and the lore will make more sense to you. As for negatives, there are a few. The levels are a labyrinthine nightmare, but if you have a good sense of direction and can identify small landmarks for navigation, that won't be an issue.

One of the BEST games iv ever played !!! :)
If you want an interesting take on melee combat, try this out. Its a quality experience, built on the things they learned from The Surge, NIcely done.
The Surge 2 features an higly refined version of the combat system of the first entry in the series, enriched by a vast amount of improvements and excellent visual/audio cues, that allow to keep track of the state of each fight at any moment. Implants can now be hot-swapped, making it possible to adapt to every situation, and each implant adds a meaningful functionality to the combat. It is also possible to swap between three different loadouts, further enriching the sense of adaptability of the main character during the game. The city of Jericho is a pretty interesting area to explore, and the player is gently guided across the map, by having some of its portions (and the tools for exploring them) not available right from the start. Difficulty is pretty balanced, graphics are good, and performance is extremely fluid. All good, then ? Unfortunately not, as The Surge 2 also features: - terrible NPCs and dialogs - ultra-low effort voice acting - a questionable character editor, t...
Excellent game!
Souls like, robot stuff, weird weapons, cosmic horrors in the form of nano bots; must be a metal gear spinoff
Read this as a slight thumbs up assuming you buy it on sale.
Positive:
It plays very well, from a technical standpoint, for the most part at least, I didn't encounter any real bugs while playing, only two full game crashes. As most of these types of games, there is a story, it isn't that interesting but it's better than most souls-likes I have written reviews for here, so I will give it a slight thumbs up. Most of the bosses feel competently designed and play well, there are one or two exceptions. There is a good variety of armor sets and weapons. Armor sets actually give you a bonus if you wear all 6 pieces, so they do have some actual impact on your build. Another slight thumbs up. The implants system from the first game make a return, there are a few new ones and most of the useful old ones return in one or another way. It isn't the deepest build creation system ever created, but it's good enough to get a thumbs up. Parts of the world is well designed, but Jericho Ci...
I think this game is, overall, a lot more refined and a lot more easy to interact with than its predecessor. While 1 was a lot more crunchy and unwieldy, it had a charm to it that I'm happy to see was retained in the sequel. The DLC is short but sweet, and i'd say is worth the buy. Honestly, the game's worth picking up at full price, but a no-brainer on sale if you, like me, are in love with the premise "Souls but post-apocalypse cyberpunk-lite."
there's really not much about this game that's worthwhile. they improved on some things from the first game, but combat is way worse. the level design is good and it's cool being able to target limbs for parts, but the actual game is poorly done. your attacks are long and frequently leave you stuck trying to avoid attacks while not being able to do anything about it, putting you in a position where your only option is trading damage. the second boss glides around to target you without being attached to the ground and will slide more than it's full body length to target you after a dodge leaving you to guess and check where is safe. that same boss has multiple places that you need to break to defeat it but many of it's moves redirects your targeting to it's main invincible body and in position to be hit with another of it's gliding attacks. this isn't the kind of challenging strategy you find is dark souls, it's a glorified cut scene simulator with guess and check stuffed in to pad out...
great game.. like a triple AAA game. its very hard at first, but when you get the hang of the game mechanics like dodging and parrying its a lot easier. overall great game
