Out of the box, with no further additions, this game is pretty solid. The world is beautiful, the flying is fun, there's an enjoyable progression system that will take you to lovely places, the flying is intuitive but can become very challenging. The base game is great! But the second you try to plug in a HOTAS? Holy hell. You can tell the devs were absolutely dreading the task of "supporting" HOTAS; I've never seen a flying game with such a miserable hack job of a HOTAS system. They dragged their feet for months while the community requested a frankly base feature for a flight game. Configuring the controls is bad enough but, this game has this horrible habit of disabling one or more control systems every single time you boot the game.
