the game loaded but crashed within the first scene. I tried threee times to advance into the game but it threw me out completely.

Crushes on first screen. Being an stubborn drunk i decided to figure it out: Compatibility mode - win95. Tick everything but register this program for restart. Seems to work. Also - try launching the game directly from windows.
