User Reviews
i love this game because i also live in a cursed world and roam around in some designer drip fighting daemons all the while actually being eternally doomed............... 🔥🔥😤💯
Final Fantasy XV is basically a road trip with your bros… that just happens to include giant monsters, magic, and saving the world. + Gorgeous open world with some of the best scenery in the series. + Fun, flashy real-time combat with plenty of weapons and magic to mess with. + The main cast (Noctis, Prompto, Ignis, Gladio) has great chemistry — feels like an actual group of friends. + Epic boss fights and cool monster designs. + Cooking system is oddly satisfying. - Story pacing is all over the place — strong moments but some parts feel rushed. - Side quests can be grindy or filler-heavy. - Some key plot points are locked behind DLC. - Open world feels more alive early on than in the late game. Verdict: A flawed but memorable JRPG with heart, spectacle, and some of the best “bro moments” in gaming. If you’re here for characters, combat, and the vibes, it’s worth the ride.
Overall a really fun and enjoyable experience. Story starts off with a bang then seems to fall short mid game. That being said late game the story vastly improves and proves to be a amazing experience. All the characters are interesting and likeable with good dialogue. Combat and gameplay are both great. Fights feels smooth and engaging especially with the link combo's. The open world isn't terrible although I will say it can be lack luster in certain parts with nothing to do. There are plenty of quests to complete and secrets are littered everywhere. Graphic's are great and the soundtrack is awesome. Having being the first ff to 100% complete I can highly recommend picking this game up and giving it a go.
really fun game if you ignore the bugs, shitty tutorial and mid storyline. ill say that the open world in the game is genuinely beautiful, my favorite part of it is admiring my car 70% of the time awful & boring fucking combat, doesnt compare to the other final fantasy games at all overall its pretty much average in everything, not bad but also not something great - get it if its on sale or something
It's not a bad game... its just not very good either. Worked fine though. I had no issues running it.
Consistently Frustrating XV is a road-trip themed ragebait beat-em-up, in which you ask yourself how long you can bear with the game's frighteningly retro attack tracking before saying 'fuck it' and relying on Warp-Strike spam. Getting attack chains off is actually fun, getting to that point is self-flaggelation. The damn game was in development for ten years, yet nobody, at any time, thought 'is this combat system fun though?' It looks pretty, Shimomura's soundtrack is godlike. Characters are basically 'emotionally constipated young man forever staring off into space', 'harried butler', 'besto friendo' and 'general about to snap and kill two kids' FFXVI is a step in the right direction for this kind of combat but still beholden to 'but what about the people who don't like that Final Fantasy isn't the same game as when their parents were still together?'. Cast off your pride or forever be mid.
Review from 2018: A massive game both in terms of scale and in regards to how different it is, there were times where the story was not doing anything for me but towards the end the characters were picking up the slack on an otherwise dull story, the exploration is absolutely what made this game enjoyable by actively encouraging you to seek out all the map, the DLC's were enjoyable and helped flesh out the problems I had with the story
Good road trip but the story isnt developped well with the openworld activities. There is no sense of danger with it. The graphics are good, the ost is amazing too (thanks yoko shimomura !). The fact that is an incomplete game without the dlc is also annoying, decent game, but not in the final fantasy scale. I liked my time with it, but I probably won't just back into it in a few years like I do with old episodes, but for 15€ with all dlcs (+ ardyn's) it was a good game.
It's not even a game. You can't lose any battles, unless you just... choose not to revive yourself. I thought 13 was bad, but then this showed it can always be worse.
