The game has tactical shooting combat with procedural map generation. The submarine itself does not feature in the combat, but can get healed or damaged via the random nodes on the map. I think the setting spoke to me which led me to purchase it, but the story is a weak point. I like roguelike and roguelite games, if you do this is a nice one to pad out your library. It is competently made.

The game had some issues at launch but has had six major updates since then to directly address much of the feedback in that initial wave of reviews.- Significantly reduced the game length to make it less of a grind
- Stealth and enemy ambushes, plus a new class (Saboteur) to take advantage
- Free switching between characters
- More maps that require different tactics
- Over powered skills and combos were rebalanced
- More weapons, effects and death animations
- More story cutscenes and a "proper" ending
- Refined the existing enemies and created a few new ones
- Full controller support
- Localization into Spanish, German, Chinese, Japanese
- Additional options, including Color Blind mode
- Increased turn speed and reduced friction in many of the menus
- Casual mode for those that felt the original game was too punishing
- Many more changes in direct response to player feedback
