The only two hints I needed boil down to "there is a lever in this shady spot" and "close doors behind you" overall an amazing work of art, and one witch I think everyone of every skill level should play. If you are iffy about getting this game, take heart and a leap of faith, this game would be worth the price even if it was just a collection of downloadable images with no connection between them, its that stunning.
A brilliant mystery adventure, if you enjoy point-and-click games this one will be a thrilling challenge.
Back in the day I enjoyed puzzling through Myst. I could never get past the first island in Riven, so that's where my adventures in this franchise ended. More than 25 years later I've given Riven another try and the experience was bittersweet. Like Myst, Riven is a point-and-click puzzler from back in the '90s. An initial cut scene instructs you to imprison the enemy and free his captive. You explore the world by moving from one static image to the next. You take note of everything you encounter (you must supply your own paper and pen, did I mention it was the '90s?) because anything might be a clue towards solving the puzzles you'll encounter. And there are journal entries to read - so much reading! I enjoyed the trip down memory lane, but found that finally solving Riven just didn't compare to playing Myst. Highly recommended to old fans of this franchise, or anyone curious about the origins of puzzle adventure games.
