It was beautiful and heartwarming. The characters even tho could not speak, i was able to feel all the emotions through those weird sweet faces without eyeballs and lips. June and C reminded me of the couple from the movie UP. Must play and the music only did wonders to the story and made the connection much more stronger. Thanks Steven and thanks for putting
Guthrie's solo at the main part of the game
<3

Last Day of June is an interactive tale about love and loss, from an all-star team of creators - including critically acclaimed director Massimo Guarini (Murasaki Baby, Shadows of the Damned) & award-winning musician and record producer Steven Wilson, and featuring a collaboration with writer/director/animator Jess Cope (animator on “Frankenweenie”, director for Metallica’s “Here Comes Revenge” music video).
- A HEART-DRIVEN QUEST: Last Day of June is inspired by Steven Wilson’s haunting song “Drive Home.” Recreated as an interactive adventure, Last Day of June takes players on a profound and poignant journey.

- POETRY IN MOTION: A true artistic innovation in visualizing a bittersweet story told through a welcoming, painterly world that showcases the beauty of life and love, but also the contradictions of loss.

- EMPATHY THROUGH EXPERIENCE: Determined to save his beloved and fueled by the power of grief, Carl introduces players to June’s last day. But as they interact with the narrative, players will progress from viewer to a character deeply intertwined in the story.

- FATE-ALTERING PUZZLES: Relive June’s last day by traveling back in time through her paintings in an attempt to change the results of the fateful and final drive home by solving emotionally challenging puzzles.

- INTERACTIVE STORYTELLING: Carl and June’s story progresses at key moments where life-changing decisions need to be made, but players may need to navigate unintentional consequences that create new dilemmas – and potentially new opportunities.

This game is wholesome, heart-wrenching, and a lot of love went into it. But without a game guide it is near impossible to complete as a few of the steps needed to progress have no correlation to each other. This mixed with the repeated scene entries becomes frustratingly annoying at times. But the story, none the less, is beautiful. I also like to think that with the frustration of the game, the writers also tried create tension and frustration to mimic what one goes through when they wish and dream that they could change the past after a loss only to wake up time and time again into this nightmare called grief... 🥺😭
It wou'd have been a great atmospheric game. But it has some bug I was unable to solve (and searching the forum indicates there's no fix). When you you quit and then want to start a game from last save point, it freezes and crashes. And there's no way (at least the one that worked for me) to get it running again other then deleting a savefile and starting from the very beginning. Which is highly irritating, since there's no way to skip all the cinematics (which is very slow). And double irritating, since the plot is highly emotional. So either you'll gonna complete the game in one run, or I'd advice to avoid it. Sadly, one little unfixed bug ruined all the gaming experience.
Review from 2018: A game I knew very little about walking into, beautiful visuals with no dialogue save for grunts and "oohs and ahhs," a very sad story about loss and the realization that you can't change the past, light puzzles and exploration are present but this is very much about the story which is pretty great, doesn't over stay its welcome either
Last Day of June completely blew me away. Such a sad and beautiful story, it honestly brought me to tears and gave me goosebumps multiple times. The art, the music, the atmosphere, everything just fits perfectly. After finishing, I even looked up how it was made and the inspiration behind it, which only made me love it more. This game left such a deep impression on me. I highly recommend it if you want an emotional, unforgettable experience.
Fun little puzzle game but can get messy if you want to get everything and aren't using a guide. The ending almost made me cry.
why is the world so blurry when the main character wear glasses.....
my eyes!
Similar emotional experience to Spiritfarer and Behind the Frame. If you liked one, you may like all three.
I would recomend this game beacuse the twist is really good, you would never expect this kind of gameplay from such a game. Its more of a puzzle game. The game has a really chill vibe and its totally beautiful with all the graphics and stuff. 10/10 Would recommend if you wanna relax . Sigma boy P.S the game is really sad so if you are sensitive prepare some tissues. Gl btw think about the secret badges they are quite a challange.
