Whispers of a Machine

I got this game as an add-on to the Kathy Rain game, but unexpectedly I liked it much more. The graphics are nice, the pixel portraits are very beautiful and distinctive, showing a whole range of characters with all their features. As for the characters, even if they don't have a lot of lines, which is explained by the fact that the game is short and there is not much content, everyone still has their own personality. For example, what is the doctor with his dark humor or Valter in the robot store. I liked that the game has variability, we can choose how the character of Vera, our heroine, will develop - she can be understanding, sympathetic, direct and assertive, or more neutral. Depending on the chosen line of behavior, Vera receives special abilities, when applied, we get different options for the development of events. I chose empathy, because it is closer to me and my Vera turned out to be a wonderful person. The puzzles were mostly logical, only a couple of times I had to look at...

Really high quality P&C adventure with great visuals, voice acting and an interesting story. Recommended.

Even in 2025 it has fresh gameplay ideas, you can unlock different augmentations based on your dialog choices which can shape your journey. Very reminiscent of Deus Ex 1, with augmentations and AI ethics. Good story! I enjoyed it thoroughly. I started playing this game during the covid epidemic and I had to shelve it when I caught the virus myself, picked it back up again last week and finally after half a decade I finally finished it, I'm really proud of myself 😅
