I hate to give this game a bad review, because it does seem like a really good game. But, currently, it has a bug that causes the screen to go temporarily black while, starting the level, taking damage, and performing certain attacks. Which makes large portions of this game, currently, unplayable. From what i understand from other reviews and comments in the community hub the developer is aware of this problem, and has been aware of this problem for, at least, five years now. Yet the problem remains. If the problem is patched out any time in the near future, i will update this review to be positive, because, out side of that, it really is a fun game, with awesome music.
Not focused enough to feel good
Movement feels imprecise, particularly rotating around orbs which is the core mechanic. The game can't decide if it's an aerial platformer or a runner-racer and it shows in the rhythm and physics. There is also action inside, with enemies. It's not cohesive at all. Level design also isn't exciting, it's just obstacles to avoid without any elaboration or mechanics. The upgrade shop feels extra unnecessary. Every gameplay element feels like it was just thrown in without any vision or second thought. Visually there are too many gimmicks, screen shake and light-shows for every basic action, it all feels like smoke and mirrors. The music is as advertised: I find it insufferable, especially because it's not well suited for the simple gaming experience this has to offer. In terms of mood it just feels random. Basic NPCs with no flavour delivering endless useless speech about non-existent lore.
