Well I played through the first two chapters to get a feel for this game. I'm not sure when I'll come back to this game due to the frustration level of having to get a series of jumps and movements exactly right, or you die and have to start from the last checkpoint. In Chapter 1, this was not so bad in having to escape a tunnel while an earthquake was filling the tunnel with rocks. You had to do the jumps and movements not getting too far ahead or getting behind as the earthquake progressed. Each time I died, I learned a little more in the sequence of moves that need to be done just right in sequence. However, in the second half of Chapter 2 when you need to flip the the three levers, this got particularly annoying in that the checkpoint was from the first switch. As Keeper of the Flame, you must protect the kingdom of Illusoria, its inhabitants and Amelia, its empress. Features and Gameplay:
- The player will have the chance to play at his own pace throughout the story and as your power increases so will your combat prowess. The main skills include running, crouching, rolling, climbing, clinging to ledges or making leaps of different lengths depending on the accuracy needed for the jump.
- Progressing through the story the player will learn how to toss fireballs, create flaming shields for protection against enemies or lunge at enemies while engulfed in flames. But until then, you will be vulnerable.
- The game lets the player choose between rushing through the levels or stopping to discover more about the history of Illusoria and its inhabitants through a system of notes and scrolls that the player can collect throughout the adventure.
- The game’s HUD, reduced solely to the text boxes during dialogues, has been removed for a better immersion into the world of Illusoria.
- During the loading screen, you will see your character progress on his journey across Illusoria in an illustrated map that will be revealed as you complete the different areas of the game.
What’s so special about Illusoria?
Illusoria’s art is very special, as the environments and interface is created from digital illustration. The animations and characters used throughout have been traditionally painted frame by frame in order to get a unique polished look. This also comes complete with a rhythmic soundtrack, composed by Victor Riera, where greater importance was used on environmental sound to create a suitable atmosphere for each level within the game.

Controls are atrocious, bad-NES level bad.
[h1]The game has beautiful graphics, and that's all...[/h1] I love difficult games, but when the hard factor comes from totally crappy controls it just makes me mad. Passing through levels is ok, you'll have to repeat some part but you can manage it, the problem is the optional parts, I've found 2 and they both were nearly impossible, since the controls a mess, the character just can not respond. I give you an example, you need to hold X (xbox360 controller) to run, and holding it and jumping you'll continue running when you land, that's what anyone can expect, but if you start jumping of a wall to a falling platform you char stops running and you are dead... also the char slips a lot, so if you need to jump to anywhere and needs to dodge any hazard you can't go back to where you were, this is nuts. [h1]Avoid it even if it's free![/h1]
Dark story dispite the perfect world it sets up. I like it! Clunky but challanging gameplay Just needs to open itself at the user perfered settings This game needs optimization, the lag is atrosious for a sprite based game.
It reminds me old school classics like "Prince of Persia" and "Flashback"... Nice graphics and ambience :) I have to play more but it seems really hard xD
