I love this game. The controls are really on point. The shooting, especially when you're on a higher level, is so much fun. There is so much variation in the construction of the worlds. I have to admit, that it's not the easiest game I played so far but I love the challenge and it's still fun because I'm getting better every time I play it. The enemies seem to be easy targets most of the time but there are quite a few that can be really tedious. All the more fun when you've figured out their weak spot. The most interesting part about this game seems to be, that when you're on a certain skill-level, you can pretty much go on forever. But I think, there's more to it, than to just beat your own highscore over and over again. The story seems to be, that you can decide for yourself, if you wanna stay in this sourrounding of shoot, kill, die, repeat or if there's a way out of it. I've yet to find this way, but I'm eager to progress towards this alternative goal. Thanks to the developer for...

About This Game
Splinter Zone is a fast paced, run & gun arcade platformer, where you play through an endless string of short, handcrafted levels.
Your task is simple: Survive for as long as you can and shoot everything that moves to get as many points as possible. The game demands and rewards perfection above anything else, but if you’re willing to look, you might also find things you’re not supposed to find. Who knows, maybe you’ll even find a way to escape this system of eternal punishment?
A challenging experience
You will fall into pits, you will get shot at, and some clown will probably jump on your head over and over again. The game might tell you, that you're not good enough to play it, but it's a lie!Reliable randomness
Splinter Zone doesn’t feature a true random level generation. Instead, its levels are hand-crafted, but the order in which they appear is randomly generated. This way it is still possible for you to get familiar with the game’s challenges while still having a unique experience every time you play.A combo system that rewards perfection above all else
The more enemies you destroy and the less damage you take, the more devastating your attacks will get. Activate HYPER MODE to not only tremendously increase your damage output for a short time, but also your score.Permission to Cheat
Sometimes, life's too short to play a challenging videogame. For those moments, Splinter Zone features a handy array of cheats that you can enable right at the start of the game. You can even turn off all enemies in the game, if you so desire...Secrets
There's more to this game that you might initially think...Screenshots

Splinter Zone is a satisfying action platformer that feels great to play and has memorable music. It's also a rare example of a game that does quasi-random level generation and actually pulls it off. Each zone has different mechanics to master, and it's fun to visit areas you haven't encountered before. I like the background art, especially the rainy city bits with shattering glass. While the FEEL of defeating enemies is nice, I wasn't super keen on many of the particle effects visually, and the accompanying sounds weren't my bag either. Especially that explosion sample. The character and enemy designs/animations also leave a little to be desired. The bosses in particular could've used a little more character, or at least more detailed animation sequences. They feel a little bare. If you're not into hardcore platforming, there's a handy 'cheat' menu that allows you to fine tune your experience. It makes the game accessible, and I wish more titles shipped with such a menu. All in all...
Alright so I'm only an hour and a bit into this but I have to write a review on this because the game needs them and first impressions are always important for getting a game. Splinter Zone is almost what happens if you have Vlambeer remake Megaman 1-3. Here's what I mean by that: If you have played Megaman's 1 to 3, some of the level segments will feel VERY familiar. .So will some of the enemy behaviours. This is not a bad thing. It's charmingly familiar. The Vlambeer part comes in with this RIDICULOUSLY MEATY GUN NOISES and the OBLIGATORY SCREENSHAKE (which you can tone down if you wish in the settings). I cannot tell you how delicious the explosions are too, you have to see them for yourself. Importantly you wanna know how the game looks and plays and sounds though, right? Sounds: The music is very 90s dos platformer or amiga protrakker. Think Jazz Jackrabbit sort of music. There are certianly some very familiar sounding samples. It's enjoyable for me, and it works great. I'v...

This game is so good. It was made with so much passion. I had high hopes, but it turned out to be a true gem! The only reason I bought a computer was, to finally get my hands on Splinter Zone. I admire the guy who made this piece. Stay the course, buy the game! This guy is so talented! Support him and his craft!
An endless roguelike game where you go through levels and fight bosses. Theres an ending but its well hidden as you need to find secrets in this game in order to reach that goal.
Cool run-and-gun game with tight controls. Rewards practice and mastery, with a nice soundtrack, too. If you’re the type of person who enjoys a challenge in 2D platformers, and testing your own skill against yourself, then this is the game for you.
fun and easy to "pick up and play" so to speak, especially love the extra crunchy sfx
A great little MegaMan-like with loads of retro vibes running throughout. Very lofi visuals and audio, but the gameplay, especially the shooting jumping feels solid, which is always important to me in these games. The roguelike aspect of it is definitely unforgiving, but that's pretty much what defines a rogluelike game, so it's expected. One wrong jump over a pit and you're SOL. Move fast but cautiously!
Enjoyed the movement, and I thought the game was alright, even with its rough edges.
