About the Game

What is Star Story: The Horizon Escape?
The archaeological research mission faced some unexpected difficulties. Your spaceship crashed. Can you escape from this planet? But how? No one can help you. You are here all alone. Or not? Do you have a plan? Will you find what it takes to be a hero?

Sounds great! Give me more details!
Star Story: The Horizon Escape is a turn-based adventure game with text-rpg elements.
Tune into the story of the aspiring space-archaeologist Van Klik on his mission to the mysterious planet of Horizon!
  • Non-linear plot development, 24 alternative endings

Your choices define the story. Totaly. Some will turn out better than others, some will worse and some will be straight up hilarious. You are to find the real true ending among your possible destinies and become a hero. Or maybe something more...
  • Text-based gameplay diversity

The core classic. Dive into the stories and find a way to exploit EVERY possible situation. Did you know that if you throw a lockpick at an attack droid, it will decide that you are stupid and will deactivate? Build your character, choose your alignments, learn the lore of the world. You will need it all to succeed.
  • Game mechanics

The story will throw a mix of dialogues, choices, turn-based battles, puzzles, weapon and resource crafting, technology research and more at you. You will use all you can to survive the challenging world of Horizon.
  • Turn-based philosophy

The player decides on the speed that he wants to play the game at. Everything is turn-based. There is no time-limit for making decisions, no quick-time events, no rush: you can take any amount of time to make your turn.
  • Beautiful world

Enjoy the wild and crazy sceneries of the world of Horizon. Deserts, jungles, cities, underground caverns… the list goes on.
  • Colorful characters

Meet the locals! Who is more to your liking? Side with “Bullet King” and uncover an ancient cryptic artifact. Or choose to undermine his brutal regime and make the local revolutionary your friend. Or screw them and go try to play romance with the alien girl? Or blow up the planet? Or… You get it!

Need A break? The Horizon Is Waiting!

P.S. Space shrimps are included...

Review for people that do not like repetive/constant crafting....If you are not a fan of constantly returning to a paticular area for crafting items constantly just to progress you will not like it...No actull item drops besides what you start out with...Just componets and material to make them. The rest of the game is nice & I don't mind some craftiing at all but that crafting is just too repetitive & takes me out of the story to much ..

Nice game, pretty funny dialogues and charcters... but sadly it is pretty short =( Hope it will get more lengthy over the course of EA. Overall great work =)

It's honestly a great game. So many fun surprises, and a lot of replayability with 24 endings. A great choose your own adventure game that offers you lots of choices in the development of your character.

If a game has this much narration, it needs to at least have a decent translation. There's so much focus on the narrative, and it's so sloppy, it just isn't fun to play. The mechanics aren't very well explained either.

I am having a hard time enjoying this game. I am almost full build and I just got "one shot" by a random mob on the first turn. There was literally no counter play to this. The enemy went first, stunned me for 2 turns, applied a fire dot and when I came out of the stun I had less life than the damage would have tic'ed me for and no way of killing the mob and keeping myself alive at the same time. Having an entire loop ended by a single random encounter is VERY bad game design and I frankly dont think I can advise this game to anyone unless this mechanic is fixed.

Another 'make your choice' game.. And your choice changes everything.. A very good game.. It's like reading a 'choice book' of my youth, but much more fun!.. I recommend this one.

I really like the art style of this game, but that's about it. So far, the story line is a bit slow, and the characters lack any depth which is pretty disappointing for a game that is set up as a story game. The big reason why I can't continue playing this game, however, is that the writers chose to write most of the story in past tense (more annoying: it's not ALL in past tense) and then offer you action choices in present tense. I thought I could get past it, but I cannot.

This is an interesting and fun game. You will get to make lots of choices as the game progresses; without spoilers, you will get a second chance at some choices. =) The dialogue is good, but was not translated into English very well. You will need to read between the lines. Crafting is decent, but gets repetitive. Numerous endings that you will strive to unlock.

Overall, the majority of the features of this game are about what you'd expect. The graphics and music are fine for a title of this size, there are only a few bugs, none of them game-breaking etc. The biggest reason this game is a thumbs-down from me (and a BIG thumbs-down at that!) is the story. I can see what they were trying to achieve... but what they *actually* achieved was making you play through the same limited game loop, with the same limited events, meeting the same limited list of NPC's etc. OVER TWENTY GOLDARNED TIMES!!! Seriously. WTF?! This is not a rogue-like where the replayability is important. This is just an insane level of padding masking a paper-thin story. It almost feels like they ran out of money/time and then just slapped the assets they had together in different orders until they'd stretched the "gameplay" out long enough. I would *NOT* recommend this game at all. And if you insist on getting it, I strongly recommend picking it up on a steep discount!

I tried the demo of this game and really enjoyed it, despite it being short. I guess that's a good demo for you! I really love the art style of this game; it's what drew me to it to begin with. The concept is also really cool: interactive story with choices that affect your stats, which in turn affect what you can do in the future. You can collect materials to build items and weapons to help you along, which I've always loved as a game mechanic, and you can go (or not go) wherever you want. I'm really liking it so far! I've gotten one ending, and I can't wait to go for the others. Multiple endings are so much fun to hunt down. So satisfying. Two thumbs up!
