It looks like the game is too early in its development to be worth paying for. Looks very promising but offline mode is bugged and it is unclear what you have to do to get started. I tried to play online but the two official servers are empty and there are no community servers. When I tried logging in to an official server, I got stucked looking at a sun not being able to do anything. I had to alt-f4 to get out of it. I might pick this game up later, but for now I have to ask for a refund, even if I got it on sale.

About This Game
In Planetes your aim is to survive, create and explore.
You will need to harvest resources, in order to construct bases, spacecraft, and items. Protect yourself from other players by creating better spacecraft or a stronger base. Explore space, finding asteroids and planets to land on.
If you travel through space you can find planets with simulated gravity and atmosphere. You can land on these planets, or crash land if your ship is not powerful enough. When you arrive you can find resources to harvest and area to build bases.

Before you can travel through space you will need to build a ship. If you don't like building in games, you won't have to do much to have a functional spacecraft. If you do like building, you will find a building system with 6 categories of spaceship components each with many different and unique parts offering many options for you to build your ship with.
Other players are dangerous, but you can also create alliances with them.

This is still eraly accsse but there arent a whole lot to do atm :) but it has the makeings of a great game.. but atm there is not much to do about a hour and i have built a huge ship fly arund the solasystem and then there is no more to do.. so i think it vill be a good ide to wait a few updates before jumping in to this game :-) but still gets a tumphs up from me :-)
Dead game, dead discord server, no updates in ages. A game that i wish i could refund but can't. Online is very broken and buggy. Please don't waste your money on this.
Planetes has been on my wishlist for a very long time so was excited to see it had finally came out. This game is VERY early in development, it requires a lot of work to make it into a decent game, at the moment it has that early access, ok I’ve achieved everything what’s next even after little play time. It seems to have a good underpinning but it needs that hook to want you to come back and work with the UI, sound and some sort of build tutorial too would be handy It gets a recommendation as the price point is decent, I didn't encounter any bugs BUT be prepared there isn't much to do if you pick it up. Planetes is a fun space game with a lot of potential. Its still an Alpha build so expect a few bugs and not all the content is in game yet but even in it's current state there is plenty of enjoyment to be had. At its core it's a space sandbox simulation with a great ship/base building mechanic and some really cool physics. There are enough components in the build menu already to let you construct pretty much anything your imagination can come up with. Once your ship is ready you can find other players to engage in PvP or just cruise the solar system trying to avoid planets, asteroids and the Sun! There isn't any PvE in game yet but get a few friends on a server and you can have a great laugh. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this progresses.
Early access "game". Latest update: 11 Mar, 2019 It's a scam or dead now. I requested a refound, i hope the steam team will give my money back even if i bought it since ages because i wanted to support the "team" but i haven't seen any updates since i bought it. Just go away and buy something else i think..
Released in near unplayable state. No updates nor communications from devs since early 2019. Avoid.
a absolute waste of money, the updates are very slow to come out and this cash grab will probably stay in early access forever.
For me it's too late to get a refund, but hopefully you won't have to get a refund because you won't buy the game in the first place. In the game's current state there's not much to do, and the last update was MANY MONTHS AGO! It may be in early access, but at this point I wonder if they're even working on the game at all. This is the first time I've ever given a bad review, but I hope it helps.
I cant seem to actually get the game to run at all, there is a picture of a sun on the screen but even leaving that for 10 mins in case it is a loading screen made no difference. It just doesnt seem to launch, online or offline. Unfortunately this seems to be a broken game so I cant recommend buying it.
