What could have been a great horror game just ends up like a shooter with poor and tedious battle mechanics. The "horror" elements are nothing but a ludicrously mysterious storyline that isn't very interesting and to that there's added jumpscares EXACTLY in the place you expect them to be. I believe the combat system is deliberately poor to keep anyone from excelling at it too soon. A way too keep the game a wee bit difficult and to annoy the player. The main character might be missing a lung or two since he's initially unable to run more than 15 steps without collapsing. Would it be possible to include a wheelchair for him since he's obviously disabled in some horrible way. I can only assume the muscular model in the game is his own image of himself and he's in reality a 300 pounds overweight chainsmoker. Sure, it has some moments but it's mainly dumb. Perhaps dumbed down to fit today's crowd of gamers!?

Took forever to get to actual gameplay. Too much setup. Story not really believable nor do I care about some rando ex-detective's trauma. idk. Just not for me.

I really wanted to like this game. I tried. But The Evil Within 2 falls short of its predecessor in nearly every wayโ€”atmosphere, story, character development, design. Where the first game felt like a fever dream stitched together with dread and brilliance, this sequel feels like it forgot what made the original memorable. Flimsy, hollow tโ€™s buggy to the point of absurdityโ€”at times,I was controlling a flying spaghetti monster. Combat aims for fluidity but lands somewhere between clunky chaotic and random. The story drags, bloated and predictable, and Sebastian... well, heโ€™s not the same Seb. Itโ€™s as if they started developing him further, then gave up halfway and defaulted to a generic, brooding male lead. Boss fights are easier than the mini-bosses, which roam like angry toddlers with knives. The open-world hub structure is clearly a love letter to Resident Evil, but it reads like it was written in invisible ink. Itโ€™s survival horror decafโ€”technically horror, but st...

This game is what Dead Space 2 was for the original Dead Space. It may not be a masterpiece. However it is definitely a masterclass in creating a superior sequel in every respect and honoring the previous game through homages (especially one in particular) and references. Not a lot of games are able to stick the landing. Especially one that intends to close up a duology. But somehow this game nails it with only minimal loose threads that could happen in a possible sequel or not. But we don't want another Dead Space 3 on our hands would we? Especially with whats happened to Tango these days and the IP not in their possession.

It's boring as fuck. You watch cutscene, walk, cutscene again, walk, sneak, cutscene again and boss fight where you just pump ammo into them. No tension or fear just pure boredom. First game was scary and tense, this one isn't. Semi open world is mistake, MC is so slugish with running or attacking that you start to wonder if devs even attended biology classes (It's more annoying since it's second time MC go into this world so he should be experience with fighting horrors). There're 2 side quests that are pointless both to plot and gameplay and you wonder why put side quest at all. First game was way better.

A great sequel that introduces some open world areas that were fun to explore. The story is engaging and monster design was great. Obscura was awesome! Really enjoyed the last few chapters with returning bosses and ending sequences. Came back to this one in 2025 to beat on nightmare with the challenge to kill every enemy I saw, great times. Recommended to horror and The Evil Within fans.

I'm obsessed with this franchise. Ignore bad reviews, even if this game has it's flaws there is no denying there is also such charm to it. [Wish Stefano was the main focus of the game but that's just my cope] I LOVE THIS GAME. VISUALLY, STORY WISE, AND STEFANO IS AMAZING. [Try to ignore how the Administrator only has one hand animation and wont take his other hand out of his pocket.]
