Vode an! 2025, still brilliant tactical shooter. Two things are imperative for Steam release though: Star Wars Republic Commando: Remaster mod from moddb and Star Wars Republic Commando Fix from leon-bckl on GitHub. Game must be launched from CT.exe (provided by RC fix) location at the GAMEPATH\GameData\System folder. With whis package SWRC uses proper widescreen, sligthly updated assets, AF, mouse controls plus mod basically fixes the blur and piss-filter on modern system. This was nothing like the simulations. I had to watch good soldiers run into enemy fire and get torn to shreds by giant bugs and robots. 7/10

It's not as good as you remember, save your money

Republic Commando – Archived. Tried to get it running on PC but even with all the Steam forum tricks and Google rabbit holes, it just wouldn’t behave. Everything was janky, broken, or both. That said, I still remember playing it back on Xbox — and it deserves to be remembered. Tactical, gritty, and surprisingly grounded for a Star Wars game, it nailed that boots-on-the-ground squad feel better than most. It never got the credit it should have, and honestly, we need more Star Wars games like this. Focused, immersive, and built around something other than lightsabers and skywalkers.
