About This Game

It’s every ninja for themselves in the ultimate battle for the Jade Katana! Fight alone, team up or take on friends in brutal arena-based combat where the mighty prevail and the weak pay the ultimate price: death and dishonour!

The year is 199X and the world teeters on the brink of total destruction. The mystical Jade Katana, stolen! Its power, so lethal! In the wrong hands, humanity will fall! And so the Viper Clan, sworn guardians of the Jade Katana, prepare to embark on their most perilous mission yet: retrieve the sword at all costs! Use katanas, shurikens, bombs, machine guns, shotguns, bazookas and more as you battle your way through a variety of locations to become the ultimate ninja and fulfill the ancient vow of the Viper Clan.

• Intense local multiplayer action for one to four players, either competitively or co-operatively… you choose!
• Six distinct game modes – Last Ninja, Battle, Coin, Crown, Arcade and Infinite – and five unique locations – Temple, Dojo, Downtown, Museum and Area 88 – each with their own gameplay features.
• Customise your ninja, then use a range of deadly ninja (and not-so-ninja) weapons to destroy anyone who gets in your way!
• Awesome stereo techno soundtrack by Matt Gray… feel the retro vibe!

For all those who enjoyed Super Crate Box - I assure you that this is your jam. I kind of almost wish I just bought this on the Switch. It would be glorious on a portable. Ninja Shodown is great great fun even with singleplayer. Once I get me some friends, things are gonna get nuts. In comparison to Super Crate Box - this has a bit more complexity with the controls and what you can do, but I found the learning curve very reasonable. The artwork, music, sound effects, and overall polish is fairly 'meh', but it doesn't matter because it has that super addictive one-more-run thing going for it.

Get four players together and have a blast! Plays really well in a mutiplayer aspect! Very challenging single player mode taking on hordes of enemies in tight enviroments at very high pace. Fun and includes lots of dabbing ninjas which you can taunt your friends with after you kill them with a Katana sword, Shireiken, guns, missles, more ninja related items and more! Highly recommend!
Hey! If you enjoy short and sweet reviews, follow my curator page here! I am an independent Curator providing reviews and insights to the games that need the spotlight! Thank you! :)
Why this game is not more popular is beyond me. Maybe it´s the price tag, maybe it has to do with a saturation of the market regarding pixel art games. Independently of that, the game is FUN and it´s a blast to play locally with friends. The game throws you into different stages were you have to use your ninja skills to survive, killing everything that moves and reaching the next stage. The gameplay is responsive and you can notice that the developers took their time to refine it. The sprites of our heroes are nice with cool details and pretty to look at. Fair warning: the game is tough as nails but cmon! It´s called NINJA SHOWDOWN; you did not expect the Ninja life to be easy, didn't you?

Quick, tight, and fun. Would have preferred a land/air direction+RB dash mechanic to the implemented dodge.

Great music from Matt Gray (Last Ninja 2). Nice little, only offline 4 Player, fast paced Ninja survival fight Game. No support and no Exit Button :)

Fantastic game that can be very addictive once you get into it. Not super long but it definitely has some difficulty at first until you learn the enemies, basic tactics, master the controls, etc. Both the main mode and survival are great, and VS. is a nice plus too. It's really got that arcadey pick up and play value. Well worth the money from an awesome developer.
