About This Game

Eternum Ex is a retro platform video game with the look and feel of the ’80s arcade cabinet games. Titles that have inspired and most influenced its creation are: Bomb Jack (Tehkan, 1984), Ghosts’n Goblins (Capcom, 1985), Baluba-louk no Densetsu (Able, 1986) and Psychic 5 (Jaleco, 1987).

Story

Sir Arthur has gotten old... too old. He has lost everything he had and loved, and with nothing more to lose he leaves for Samarnath, an evil subterranean kingdom (which no knight has ever returned alive) in search of treasures, adventures and the most important: five magical orbs that together provide: the Eternal youth.

Thanks to its progressive difficulty curve, and with a path divided into “worlds” of 5 levels each one, Eternum Ex is challenging, addictive and an ode to the nostalgia of the golden age of arcade games.

Easy to play, hard to master

With a very simple core gameplay mechanics, an increasing difficulty, an exciting and addictive gameplay, and with a very precise control, Eternum Ex is perfect for retro hardcore gamers but also for those who want to start in retro games, and even for those who want to show children how games were when game industry was taking its first steps and gameplay was the most important factor in a video game.

Good retro!! It plays really nice, controls are very well implemented. The graphics and animation are great and the music is very good. It replicates everything that was great about this kind of games, when I was a kid. It is a pleasure to play a new game that could have been realesed at the end of the 80s. This is new material today where you can see the effort and dedication of doing a master piece inspired on that periode's games.

Something is REALLY wrong with the controls. They will just stop working, intermittently. Considering a refund if I don't hear back from the developers today.

Competently made but boring AF. No challenge, no subtleties or nuances. Just a plain old boring perfunctory platformer where you gather chests and can optionally break them open by hitting them from below first. Except there's no reason to bother doing that because all it does is slow the already dull gameplay down. I only died after the 1st boss because I was bored and really stopped caring. Missing lots of polish such as being able to return to the main menu from a game only QTD, plus you can't skip the annoying intro screen even though you've already read it all, nor can you adjust settings like sound/music or turn off the scanlines effect, which is a huge annoyance. It has the cuteness and retro feel, but it is simply not fun in any way. I refunded.

There's some fun to be had, but ultimatly it's kinda shallow (even for an arcade game) and not as difficult as the trailer would have you believe. Also, to get the good ending you have to play a mode where the challenge is almost non-existant because you get infinite continues. If you have to try it, wait for a discount because it's definitely not worth it at full price.

Great time travel with the game! It reminds me to the good old Castelvania experience. I've just unlocked the first 2 levels but it will make (at least) my weekend :)

The game is great!!! It feels like an old arcade game, but modern at the same time. The theme of the game, the music and the pixel art is really good. I think that the trailer oversell the fact that is hard, It's not that hard, which is great. It's not a frustrating game. It's a well made game. Played on Ubuntu 16.04.

Getting older sucks especially when it comes to doing difficult tasks that you use to do easy. However, old age ain't stopping this old geezer name Arthur - a retired former knight who missed his knightly hood and wants to regain back his eternal youth by going straight to hell and back. Eternum EX is clearly inspired off 1980s arcade plat-formers, in which the object of the game is too collect all the treasure chests while fighting off hordes of hungry demons and carefully jumping on platforms. As I mention earlier, this game is bastardly hard with its difficult platforming, enemy onslaught, various traps & pits, and limited time to complete each level. Luckily Arthur can collect power-ups that gives him the abilities to cast spells, shield himself, and gain extra time. The game gives you 2 options: Console - lets you save your progress but only allows 3 continues and Arcade - no save progress but grants you infinite continues. Overall, this game is fun experience for those looking fo...
