My favorite game of all time. I remember, about 20 years ago when I was still in school, I happened to buy a disc of this game by chance, and ended up putting around 300–400 hours into it. A combat system built around gambits that was ahead of its time (still the best one to this day), a huge variety of locations to explore, and overall an abundance of content. It’s a real shame that the remaster, even with all its improvements, has one huge drawback for me — the mandatory class system. In this regard, the original, with its ability to have all skills and magic and to use any type of weapon, is far superior to the restricted class-based system.

Fun game. I bought back when it first came out on the PS2. Happy to play it again.

Absolute masterpiece in every sense of the word. Top 3 FFs alongside FFXIII and FFVI The story makes sense now that I'm an adult. The voice acting is superb, the extra CGI cutscenes were a nice touch. The revamped class system is incredible and the difficulty spikes are everything fans want and ask for. Square Enix has been dropping the ball quite a lot. Just do more of this

I used to play this when I was a kid at my friend's house; later, I had the opportunity to play it on an emulator (never beat it though!) while listening to The Black Philip Show With Patrice O'Neal on repeat - kind of became a thing for me; now I've played this version - this time actually beating the game -, and what a wonderful journey I've had. 10/10!

This is a very different Final Fantasy game from all the rest - it's kind of a mix of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, Vagrant Story, Monster Hunter and Final Fantasy of course. I have to admit that it's the FF game that I have played the least, but I still had fun on this second playthrough, the combat and the gambit system is confusing at first, but once it clicks it's kind of fun. The bad thing is that many mechanics haven't really aged that well, and the game is really repetitive, and quite grindy, the grind can be fun..but grind it is

I love the Final Fantasy series. I never got the chance to try this one when I was younger, so I thought I'd give it a go as a middle-aged adult. I couldn't make it to the end even with the 100+ hours I put into it (probably half of those hours literally asleep with the game still running). This is an absolute slog of a bland RPG, and it has a fast-forward button so that is really saying something. The Good: - The gambit system which lets you automate character actions is novel and I found it fun to tinker with. - The visual effects and monster design are excellent, as always in this series. - Good music. - The Shakespearean manner of speech of the characters is fun to listen to and often cleverly written. - Balthier The Bad: - Completely bland characters without an ounce of humanity or emotion to them. FInal Fantasy has always had big memorable personalities- FF XII is different. It is filled with stiff characters that I can barely describe beyond their attire and goals. The only e...

This is likely my all time favorite Final Fantasy game. I love the hand drawn textures, the style of the world, the license and job system, the user interface and all the audio, the hunt system, and the gambit system. It can be a bit bland in some areas, but overall its truly just a bop of a game. Among some of the best of all JRPGs truly.
