About This Game

WARNING: This video game may potentially trigger seizures for people with photosensitive epilepsy. Player discretion is advised.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The game focuses on exploration and builds tension slowly to create a deeper and more meaningful experience. Its story is unveiled through surreal imaging and subtle environment details. Be mindful that it is a difficult game in unconventional ways.

Visage is a first-person psychological horror game.

Explore a mysterious ever-changing house in a slow-paced, atmospheric world that combines both uncannily comforting and horrifyingly realistic environments, and enjoy a genuinely terrifying experience.

Environment

The game is set inside a huge house in which terrible things have happened. You’ll wander through the gloomy corridors, explore every dead room, and get lost in endless mazes, your head filling with memories of the dead families that once lived in this very home. This twisted environment, void of any life other than yours, takes you to places you couldn't even bear imagining.

Storyline

This house is stained with a terrible past. Families were brutally murdered by their own family members, people went insane, many committed suicide, and other grisly events occurred. Each and every room has its story painted on an invisible canvas. As a player, you will relive parts of this dark past, and each of its fragments will leave you restless and terrified. You’ll soon wish you could join the dead's ranks in their abyss, but death won't help you leave this place. Will you run from it, or will you try to uncover the truth behind the shadows?

Dark entities

The families that died in the house will haunt you and leave you restless. They’ll follow your every move, watch you from every corner, play tricks with your mind, and try to attack you. Why do they haunt you? What have you done? This you have to find out on your own.

Gameplay

In Visage, you are defenseless; no weapons could save you from the dreadful entities stalking you from the next corner, the next door, or underneath your feet. You’ll be able to pick up key elements, interact with the environment, and search for things that may help you escape this nightmare or pull you deeper into it.

Dying is part of the game. You need to avoid terror at all costs, as dark entities are attracted to it. Maintaining your mind as sane as possible will keep you from joining the ranks of the dead. Doing so will not be easy, and you'll have to figure out ways, like staying in the light, to avoid going insane.

I love horror, but I’ll admit, I have a hard time fully immersing myself sometimes (or maybe I’m just a bit of a scaredy cat). Visage feels heavily inspired by PT from way back when, and honestly, it does that legacy justice. The game gives you multiple paths and stories to experience, ranging from absolutely horrific to “okay, that spooked me but I can breathe again.” No matter where you are, the ambiance is always there, keeping you on edge. The visuals do a ton of heavy lifting, the house feels too real, like it has a life of its own. Pair that with masterful sound design and you’ve got a recipe for constant paranoia. This is one of those horror games that sticks with you long after you turn it off. It’s slow, deliberate, and absolutely drenched in atmosphere. The jump scares? Brutal, some of the best I’ve ever seen. It’s a masterclass in oppressive ambience, a real psychological gauntlet. Gameplay is methodical but rewarding. You’ll explore, manage sanity, and ...

i love horror and psych horror games, but i utterly despise these F'ing zero direction games. walking around not knowing where to F'ing go or what to F'ing do pisses me off. i spent 95% of these games guessing where to go, opening hundrends of doors, running in circles, guessing what to do, oh i found a key, ok i need to find that door, 3hrs later i find the door. the amount of running around with these games, it severely destroys the immersion. im at the point where, those zombie people are in front of the elevator, and i have no clue where to go or what the F to do, THERE IS NO DIRECTION, no hint. EDIT: retry #2. the key in front of the elevator, WAS NOT THERE BEFORE. so i managed to get as far as, those zombies shasing you in hospital then you get in that room with drawn eyes on mirror reflection walls, and then in the house where the crutch guy chases you. How The F is he catching up to me whilst im running, where do i go? then when he catches me, the last save was back ...

Besides the annoying Dark Souls format cut scenes it's wonderful.

This game actually gave me the creeps. The jump scares are very unexpected, truly activates your fear of the unknown.

Overall a good horror game, pretty difficult so have a cute girl help you with a walk through if you need. Can be a bit tedious at times. Also the control scheme is fucking ass. it's honestly horrible. Graphics are great, scares are great, monsters are ok, lucy's chapter is BY FAR the best. Many puzzles in the game are hard to figure out with out external help. My biggest gripe is the ending of this game, all ending are ass. Honestly, they don't reveal any more exposition than you already know. They are both vague, rushed, and frankly just empty and lackluster. If you buy this game, you will enjoy it, but be dissapointed in how it ends. Proceed with caution.

I really had to psyche myself up to get through portions of this game. There were moments where I didn't play for days at a time because I couldn't handle the stress the game managed to induce in me, but I kept on because I wanted to unravel the mystery of seeing what happens next to our character. Bravo SadSquare! That being said this game perfectly succeeds at what it is and that is being very scary and atmospheric. Gameplay wise there ARE some obtuse parts that felt a bit tedious. Thank goodness for guides but overall I heartily recommend this to anyone who is not faint of heart.
