About This Game

Game details

Heroes of Arca is a unique blend of a turn-based strategy and RPG with an unorthodox combat system that presents a wide choice of battle tactics for the turn-based games' fans. The game outbounds its genre with its original combat system and can capture both the genre connoisseurs and the unsophisticated players.

Dive into the fantasy world of planet Arca. A fascinating adventure awaits you, during it you will have to find a way of saving the world from a dire threat. Take part in hundreds of battles with various enemies. Enhance skills of your hero. Gather the ancient artifacts. Explore the new lands.

Story

Arca... The amazing world crafted by the wise ancients that were respectfully called "The Creators". For many years they preserved the planet and helped its inhabitants. But nothing can last forever. Nobody knows the reason, but the honorable Creators had left their masterpiece a thousand years ago. And with their disappearance, nations of Arca wallowed in endless strife and struggle for territory. Flames of war started to roar over the planet.

Humans proved to be the hardiest and fittest to the wars. It was they who formed the backbone of most armies, became the strongest warlords and led the successful raids. Countries under their rule thrived and captured the most pleasant lands.

But even their art of war, honed for centuries, and experience gained in endless battles didn't allow them to protect their homeworld against invasion from the outside. A new force seemed to appear from nowhere. Neither declaring wars nor stating their reasons, the silent legions of faceless men simply wiped out the whole countries on their way. And when the people of Arca had lost faith in their power and their ability to change something...

I don't normally play this sort of game but as i was in need of something to play i gave it a try, And very happy i did, It's a little like a Board game with very simply controls so simple that you only need a Mouse and 1 hand, On the map screen click on a bad guy and then enter battle mode which is just like an old school Turn Based RPG, again simple to understand control over the battle, just click on icons at the bottom of the screen and that's where the strategy comes into play, don't think you can just click the same icon over and over to win that will not work. You have the normal RPG type elements, E.G. Experience Points, Skill Points, Item's to improve skills, etc. You don't die when beaten in battle, You retrun to the map screen and a ghost version of yourself appears which is called your "Twin" ingame, you then have to beat your Twin to continue your quest which also helps with leveling up your player. All in All this game is simple to play but hard to master and if you li...

Heroes Of Arca is a game genres of RPG And Turn-Based strategy. The game is very beautiful and done wonderfully. A touching, fairy tale story about the adventures of a young girl. I really enjoy the turn-based battles and the different ways you can use your troops. It takes a while to really get into as it's a fairly difficult game, but once you do, it's really something else. If you're craving tactical strategy with a hint of RPG, this is definitely your game. This game is really quite charming - cute colorful graphics, nice animations - but also fairly challenging. Just be forewarned. But still a fantastic game. Highly, highly recommended if you like tactical stuff.

Heroes of Arca might be the biggest dissapointment I've ever experienced on Steam. It is not a bad game per se, but has some flaws which sucked the enjoyment out of it for me personally. My biggest concern is that while the game seems to offer different choices when it comes to allocating your skillpoints, only one approach is feasible (i.e. investing points into your minions). Even the developer himself admits that successfully finishing the first area can already be a challenge if one skilled "wrong": "unforturnaly, it will be a realy hard to defeat Master without creatures of level 5". If you skilled "wrong" you are stuck with grinding exp to make up for that mistake, making the game very repetitive because you'll end up losing most fights and always have to fight a copy of yourself then, too. On the one hand this allows for quicker collection of EXP, on the other hand it becomes boring pretty fast. Moreover, the effect of chance (or RNG) seems just to powerful - even if you do gr...

Wow, I'm impressed by how thoroughly not fun this combat system is. It feels like every time something goes wrong, you try to come up with a plan for how to get yourself out of this hole, and then the system is so random that you don't actually have any power to do that whatsoever, so your only hope to win is a super lucky roll that will carry the day. The way the system works is that each character takes 3 actions for the turn. One you choose, two more randomly chosen based on the one you picked. If all 3 are the same, you get to go again. The ammount of randomness this induces just makes the game miserable- Need to keep that squishy mage alive? Tough Shit, the best you can do is make the odds *slightly* in your favor, but not really, since all the summons have two chances to attack before your next move, so even if things go perfectly, it's probably dead anyways. Oh, and story. The story was boring enough that I was skipping lines before the intro cutscene was over. Don't waste y...

You what'd be fun? A tactical RPG where 2/3rds of your actions are randomly chosen for you! Sorry, this game looks like a lot of effort was put into it and if you don't mind the heavy element of chance in the fight it could be fun, but it really isn't for me.

Others have described how random the battles are with outcomes being more about luck than the actual skills that you build. You can easily wipe out one opponent at x level and then get stuck in an endless cycle of losing when you meet that same opponent again. I spent two hours trying to beat a level 16 that I handily beat in a previous match. I am currently level 21. Furthermore, as you progress, the battles get longer and longer. Despite the fact I am probably somewhere about midway through the game, each major battle is taking somewhere between 15-20 minutes. Hence, when you lose, it quite sucks. Not to mention that every time you lose, you have to battle "mirror" you--another tedious battle that takes around five minutes, but one you are at least guaranteed to win. And, you have to win the battle with your mirror before you can reface the opponent you lost to. I didn't rage quit this game after two hours of fighting the same battle over and over, but more like extreme anno...

All the criticisms aimed at this game are mostly justified. Nonetheless, it IS cute, and, while the randomness of the summoning can mean the difference between winning and losing, it is a fun way to while away a few minutes.

I really do enjoy this game. It's pretty simple to understand, but offers enough strategy combined with luck to make it entertaining. Everything is cool, keep it up.Just add new types of heroes and spells.
