This game is like a Zelda-type adventure game that is heavily based on Japanese mythology. You play as a wolf God going around Nippon to restore the land and defeat the Evil One for good. Since you're a wolf who can't talk, you're accompanied by a companion that does the dialog on your behalf, except he's no bigger than a flea and is practically a simp for every smoking hot babe you meet in the story. If I had to take a shot every time he simped for a babe I wouldn't be drunk but he would be drowning in alcohol. Gameplay is simple with tons of side-quests, secrets and collectibles, which encourages you to explore the world and every crevice. Most of the side-quests are optional, but completing them makes you feel as if you're Santa Claus for the villagers. 10/10 would recommend if you enjoy relaxing story-based games or scratching that itch to feel like being a Santa.

Look, I played this game for less than an hour and this review is just a quick reflection of my thoughts. The art style looks great, but everything else is just so boring and tedious. The dialogue is so slow it feels like I am back in first grade. And the amount of dialogue is genuinely staggering, holy moly, they don't stop talking. So I started skipping the cutscenes; it was driving me crazy. Maybe the gameplay could salvage it. Nope. Just mashing buttons and the occasional drawing, which would kind of be good for the Nintendo DS or Wii, but with a controller it doesn't feel fun. Now, if you don't have any nostalgia for this game, and if you don't have patience because of your deep fried brain, I suggest you to skip it.

Never played the original, but the HD-Port of this cult classic Action-Adventure works and looks great. Art Style and soundtrack both are simply gorgous. The plot with it's nods to japanese mythology, a likeable cast and some emotional moments is very charming too. Plus, you play as the majestic wolf goddess Amaterasu, who's inherently better than any human protagonist!

I love this game. As a system for showing stylized, "hand-drawn" artwork in a 3D world, its graphics, originally developed for and released on the PlayStation 2, are still unmatched. That said, it is worth pointing out that what is released here seems really more like an emulation than a true port; the "HD-ness" of this work is half-baked.
