This game is short and simple. It's a prequel to Echoes of the Fey - Episode 1. It recounts how Sofya and Heremon (from episode 1) became friends and how Sofya gained her powers. This game would be a good introduction to the series, as it's free to play. Since I really enjoyed episode 1, I was glad to see the story's beginning in episode 0. This was also an interesting use of the Unreal Engine 4. I definitely recommend this to anyone interested in episode 1, but is unsure of whether to buy it.

In the last days of the long war between Humans and Leshin, a tense stalemate has emerged. For years, Leshin have lain siege to the Humans over their use of Fey reactors, massive machines that draw electricity from the realm of magic. Both sides tire after almost thirty years of war, and perhaps peace is now in reach. But Leshin extremists, desperate for a victory to reclaim their power among the people, are about to stage a devastating attack that will change the world forever.
Echoes of the Fey is a series of detective stories set in the high fantasy world of Oraz. Episode 0: The Immolation takes place before the protagonist, Sofya Rykov, becomes a private investigator. She is an officer in the Imperial Human army who believes she has secured a safe position as a prison guard in the metropolitan city of Onigrad. One fateful night, one of the Leshin assigned to her begins to act strangely. And then a massive boom rings out from the Onigrad Fey reactor...
Episode 0 is an adventure game/visual novel with dialog trees and several choices for Sofya that will affect the way the story plays out. Sofya will also be able to walk around the prison and learn more about the world from her prisoners, though with an impending disaster about to hit the prison, she will have to balance how to use her time before staging her escape.

This game was an awkward experience... Echoes of the Fey Episode 0: The immolation is a visual novel + exploration game that's similar to that of PRICE, except it doesn't focus on horror. The narrative focuses on Sofya, who works as a prison guard that looks after a creepy vampire-like elf that acts like the typical "THE END IS NEAR" guy in a super creepy manner and a black elf (No...I don't mean "Dark Elf" like a Drow, I mean "Black Elf"...with dreadlocks) while talking with her *ss of a co-worker. (Kinda' surprised she banged him...and every other officer in her region) After a series of events, she goes from being a lazy guard to having some growth as a character. The art style, animation, and voice acting is the most awkward part of the experience and could be better. The voice-acting is sprinkled in at random points rather than the whole game. Though the artstyle is rather displeasing, I can forgive it since it feels fitting later on. The top of the walking ...
Somekind of an action VN, where a timer runs and you have to free all prisoners just in time ...
Echoes of the Fey Episode 0: The Immolation is a really neat visual novel, its got good audio design, voice acting and "unique" graphics for a visual novel. Its one of the better free to play VN's I have seen as of late and I recommend it. If anything it has me interested in the other episodes.
In all honesty, this episode feels lacking. I just didn't feel like it added anything of importance to the story that I didn't already learn in Episode 1. In fact I often felt that some parts were explained with more depth and reflection in that game than actually seeing them here. Anyway, the game is free, so nothing is lost from downloading it, but personally I feel nothing was gained either and that's what determines my score.
The Game itself has a fine base and some fine gameplay but it is not the best I’ve experienced. The audio is fine and I like the way they've made the dialog and general conversations between characters. I didn't find the story interesting though and the characters didn't catch me but hey it might get better with the other episodes.
