Utterly terrifying. I dreaded going around every corner. Making the simplest action was anxiety-inducing. The sanity meter is diabolical - light is needed to see and to prevent a game over, but it makes you more noticeable to the monsters... who can also cause a game over. The story is a gothic nightmare. The set-pieces are incredible. This is a must-play for horror fans.

One of the best horror games ever created in history. A masterpiece that will live on forever within the horror genre. If you love horror games, Amnesia The Dark Descent is undoubtedly a must play.
A classic masterpiece that revolutionized the Survival Horror genre! This is one of my favorite horror games. The main aspects I enjoy are the dark mystery that slowly unfolds as the game progresses, the intriguing story, hallucinations/visual effects, sound design, puzzles, physics, and monster design. This is a perfect blend between survival horror, great storytelling, psychedelic visual effects, and more 10/10 :)
Atmospheric, yes but too slow, not scary, and lacking a clear story. The tension fizzles out quickly, and without jump scares or real payoff, it’s hard to stay invested. Disappointing if you're after engaging horror or a compelling narrative.
Amnesia: The Dark Descent remains a landmark title in the survival horror genre, widely credited with revitalizing psychological horror games and setting a new standard for immersive, atmosphere-driven scares. Developed by Frictional Games, this 2010 release combines deeply unsettling storytelling with innovative gameplay mechanics that subvert traditional horror tropes, creating an experience that is as intellectually engaging as it is terrifying. Even years after its release, Amnesia stands out not only for its chilling narrative and mood but also for its design philosophy that emphasizes vulnerability, exploration, and the dread of the unknown. At the core of Amnesia: The Dark Descent is its haunting narrative, which unfolds through journal entries, environmental storytelling, and fragmented memories. You play as Daniel, a man suffering from amnesia who awakens in a foreboding Prussian castle with only a cryptic note guiding him to descend deeper into the darkness to confront a pas...
Saw the happy wheels man play this
The first ACTUAL scary game I've ever played. Jeez has this game stained me forever. I will NEVER forget how terrifying the unknown was in this experience and I kid you not, have had MULTIPLE ACTUAL NIGHTMARES based around this game's atmosphere and terrifying monsters. Although I couldn't understand the story, the gist of what I got out of it still gave me chills. Only issue with this game is the constant flashbangs of story. 9.5/10. The only game to ever top this so far is Silent Hill 2 Remake, 2 years later.
pioneered the entire horror genre and still holds up as one of the best physiological games of all time
The icon. the legend. One of the best horror games of all time, and for a good reason. Forever associated with 2012 in my brain (not because of the graphics, it's actually very ahead of its time on that aspect). The mother of a million copycat games and iconic gamers like Markiplier. Not much else to say. I think it's better to go into this game with as little knowledge as possible, and to just enjoy the atmosphere, the scares and the story. Amnesia: TDD, you'll always be one of my favorite pieces of media.
It is a very good game. Very spooky. Almoost as good as my good friend Ronald. Please play, invite friends, and have a scary time. Hopefully as good as I have with my friend Ronald.
