I'll give this game a positive review but be warned, patience is required while playing. The main issue is the nonsensical use of many items. You get to the point where you just try every item on every place you can. For instance, place a bottle (completely empty) on its side on the floor and all the bugs and spiders scuttling around will crawl into it. If only! Also, you'll use a knife or hammer and throw it away, only to need a similar item a few moments later. I really wanted to throttle the main character. Okay, my rant is over. That aside, the game is quite well done. There's a map with fast travel that, though it doesn't tell you where actions can be performed, DOES tell you areas where everything is completely finished. There's also decent voice acting, spooky music, gorgeous scenery, and fun cutscenes. There are ingame achievements and you earn Christmas decorations for each one you complete. Puzzles CAN be extremely difficult - mainly because at times it's difficult to figure ...
Short version: 73%
This nice little hidden object game offers many types of puzzles and hidden object scenes, extreme levels of running around for vaguely defined items, and a bit surprising yet still predictable supernatural story with nice voice acting and a Christmas edge.
Long version:
Many hidden object games use a missing sister and an evil magic-wielder as the main plot elements, but rarely we see the two of them combine into the same person like in Christmas Eve: Midnight’s Call. As an even more interesting twist, this supernatural rescue mission also adds saving the very spirit of Christmas into its plot, which results in a story that is both rather clichéd for a HOG, but still strangely unique in its own way thanks to moments like Santa Claus giving us tips on how to battle a malevolent sorceress. Saving Christmas is a large task, and facing Christmas Eve’s point ‘n’ click mechanics does not make it easier—prepare to have your bag always full of...

Game Information "Christmas Eve: Midnight's Call" Collector's Edition is an Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure game. The game was developed by ERS Game Studio and published by Big Fish Games Studio. Since this is a collector's edition, it comes with extra features that are not available in its' counterpart; the standard edition. The Game Review Game Visuals I want to mention that the visuals in the game are nicely done. The visuals can be adjusted in the game's option menu. Game Audio I want to mention that audio for the game is well done. Even though the audio is somewhat simplistic and repetitive. The audio can be adjusted in the game's option menu as well. Gameplay There are four different game difficulty modes to choose from: Casual; Advanced; Hard and Custom. The notebook keeps track of progression in the game. Such as story events and clues. There is an interactive map in the game. It allows the player to fast travel between each location quickl...

SPOILERS (if you care) Okay, so my partner and I downloaded this game after we saw the Grumps play some of it because we needed to see the ending -- and while the gameplay wasn't too bad, it was entertaining at least, the ending for both the regular and the bonus game were seriously lacking. There is no actual resolution about the sister, or if they get to talk or if she comes home or whatever, like what the hell? Also why did Robert look like Michael Douglas???? And Leonardo def looked similar to that one guy from Supernatural. And why was Santa in CG but none of the other characters??? Also the empty box on the menu was confusing and stupid, plz talk to your UI designer. Anywho, for a cheapy game, it played fine but the ending wasn't remotely satisfying whatsoever, and the MC is a little uh weird and somewhat of a klepto but yeah it is what it is, I guess.

Fun HO game. Years ago, while skating in your town’s Central Park, an incident happens and your sister disappears before your eyes. Now, you have received a mysterious message that claims that it will solve this mystery… And before you know it, you are swept into another world, where the queen needs your help to deal with a dark enemy… and that your lost sister might be found along the way. HO scenes are interesting, plot engaging, and the minigames fun. Worth the time to play.

This game and the bonus took about 3 hours to complete. I will say the graphics were a bit glitchy and the story is not the best out there. The puzzles are fun but some are very complex, whilst the HO games are a normal difficulty. It does look like santa was squeezed in last min just to make this about christmas. I'd only buy this game on sale for cheap but its a fun christmas eve game to waste a couple of hours in.

Puzzles are explained well, and there is a nice variety. Visuals are very well done, fitting in well with the game's style. The story is actually very engaging, which is why the ending is so disappointing. It feels like the developers just... stopped. I would love to have learned more about the world, and the various people you encounter. Because of the ending I wouldn't pay full price for this, but it seems to go on sale fairly regularly so if you like point and click puzzle adventures stick this on your wishlist.

This is a super fun little puzzle and finding game. The graphics and voice acting are nice and its a great game for unwinding. I heard about it from the Game Grumps who did a couple episodes on it if you want to see what it's like before buying it at its full price, but honestly it more than paid for itself at the sale price i got it at ($4).
