About This Game

An ex-priest who believes the Evil One lives in him becomes entangled in a nightmare scenario when he travels to Africa to investigate an alleged demonic possession. Guide this tortured soul as he works feverishly to solve a horrifying supernatural mystery and save the life of an innocent child!

Nicknamed The Saint for how he devoted his life to God after a Bible stopped shrapnel from piercing his heart in battle, John hopes to somehow help his cousin, who lost his wife to African fever and whose daughter has been behaving strangely. But the moment he steps onto his cousin's sweltering estate, he begins seeing strange things and blacking out for hours on end. Soon, the young girl speaks of "She," an ethereal presence he's angered with his arrival. With each location you explore, each hidden object you find, each character you encounter, and each puzzle you solve, you'll not only move toward a shocking revelation but also piece together a cunning solution.

Compelling and highly playable, The Saint: Abyss of Despair will draw you in with its intense opening monologue and hold you in its grip until you've experienced every breathtaking moment!

It's an average HOG, which is very short ~2,5h. Beautiful graphics, great setting but a whacky story, that is in a silly way complicated - why does the main character have to be a war veteran that has touched some book during a battle and became religious but then became an exorcist - I don't know when it doesn't affect the story and gameplay. There are plenty of minigames which are easy. Achievements are buggy, making the game tedious to play. The price is low. I wish I could give this game a neutral rating, because it's not the worst (such as The Esoterica: Hollow Earth) but it's definetly far from being the best (such as Adam Wolfe).

Typical hidden-object game. Story full of ghosts, evil demonds, etc. Puzzles are so so. Average game

Different type of story which is good. Graphics are not good. Mini-games are decent except for the signature "trace" I tried very combo of point ordering for the cursive k and none worked - crappy puzzle. I finally found a solution online. The person who created the puzzle obviously know nothing about writing a cursive 'k'. The Glued to My Chair and Film Critic achievements did not unlock the first time. Film Critic did not unlock the second play either and I did not alter any settings. I had to delete the save file, uninstall and reinstall the game before Film Critic unlocked on the third play. Alawar needs to pull their heads out of their butts.

Nice setting for a hidden object game and variety of minigame puzzles. Engaging story and characters with a bug with one achievement but otherwise a recommended game :)

Rating: ★★★★★ The Saint: Abyss of Despair is a captivating adventure that seamlessly blends mystery, puzzle-solving, and a touch of the mystical. From the moment I delved into this game, I was immediately drawn to its unique atmosphere and intricate storyline. One standout feature that added an extra layer of intrigue for me was the inclusion of Persian signs, lending an authentic and culturally rich feel to the overall gaming experience. The game's narrative follows a compelling storyline that unfolds in a mysterious and desolate environment. As the player, you embark on a quest to unravel the secrets of the abyss and overcome numerous challenges along the way. The Persian signs scattered throughout the game not only contribute to the immersive setting but also showcase a thoughtful attention to detail that sets The Saint apart from other adventure games. The visual aesthetics with beautifully rendered scenes that transport players to a world shrouded in enigma. The atte...

I'm pretty forgiving when it comes to Hidden Object games, but i can't recommend The Saint. Not only does it have the identity issue that a lot of the older HOG's have (the word is the wrong one for the object thanks to a bad translation). But there are also a bunch of mini games with inane trial + error solutions: Unless you are incredibly lucky or incredibly patient then you won't find the answer on your own. Skip this one.

Barely recommended - This is a pretty mediocre hidden object game. The story is set in Africa. The main character is Jonathan, a former priest that has been summoned by his friend Michael to investigate whether Michael's daughter Jenny is possessed. The basic story is an interesting premise but the execution is weak. The voice acting for the narrator is OK, but it varies from bad to terrible for most of the other characters. Things unwind in a contrived fashion and the player is given annoying tasks to complete to advance the story. It takes about two hours to finish the game once. I think the artwork for the locations and hidden object scenes is pretty decent. The hidden object games themselves are above average - there are no bad clues. The mini games are not especially challenging or difficult. This game has Steam achievements. You should be able to harvest them all in one play through but I ran into an issue and it took three tries to get the last one. This issue is do...

“The Saint” is a typical representative of the HOG genre, this one being slightly above the usual average. The story takes your character, a war veteran and ex-priest (this game is one of the few in the genre where the main protagonist is a man), to colonial Africa to visit your cousin, who is asking you for help with his daughter that is being possessed by a demonic entity. The game has relatively good graphics, and the hidden-object scenes are well designed; music is somewhat weaker, there is just one ambient melody, but it fits the atmosphere nicely. Gameplay is quite short, expect it to last not much longer than 2 hours, but at least the story is quite captivating (though the plot holes and illogical steps that are so prevalent in HOGs couldn’t be avoided...). A good game for Saturday afternoon relax, and at adequate price.

I really liked the story and the setting in this one. It's a little on the short side, but that's ok since it's so cheap
