If you can stomach the jank, you're in for a good time. Gameplay is basic but decent enough, the story is pretty good and the soundtrack is banging. Very underrated game.

This game is an odd one. On the one hand, the writing is absolutely stellar, perfect for the VtM setting, and it's very clear it was the developer's number one priority when creating this game. However, I can't say the same for many of the gameplay choices made here - point and click for a game made in 2000 that is built in a 3D engine? Oh boy, it's as bad as it sounds. You get used to it eventually, but the issue is there's obviously lots of interior environments to navigate. This is fine when the level design complements the use of point and click movement, but often times, especially in the modern era portion of the game, it doesn't. Furthermore, the damage system seems off to me, this could possibly be because there's almost no tangible feedback anytime you attack an enemy besides them reacting to the attack. There is a classic rolling text panel that gives information relating to what your character and other NPCs are doing, however it's very small, and any useful information ...
I bought this when it came out but I doubt I will replay it.
if you haven't played in 2000, don't play it now
For being an RPG it's pretty linear - there are no side quests and it doesn't offer much to do other than going from dungeon to dungeon for the main quest However, it has that late 90s/early 2000s charm to it, the dungeons are fun enough once you get the hang of it, and the story was nice A common complaint i've seen is about the companions and their AI, but i found that to be greatly exaggerated, aside from a couple of occasion they didn't need too much micromanagement Overall worth a playthrough as long as you don't expect anything similar to its much more famous and acclaimed successor Bloodlines, as they are two completely different games
Underrated gem. Underrated OST. Best VtM game after Bloodlines.
There is a perfect version of this game that could exist with more modern features where the party system more closely resembles DA: Origins, better graphics, and an overall less dated approach to game design. Unfortunately, with the handling of the WoD property by Paradox, I find this unlikely to happen, so you will have to go for the original. And even with those caveats, it remains a pretty good RPG. It’s no Bloodlines (what is?), but it’s a fun dungeon crawler with surprisingly decent writing, fun performances, and a series of gameplay twists and surprises that keep the experience fresh throughout your time with it.
Bro, an all-time CLASSIC! Literally, the 1st game I played online. Playing it now, just brings back those vibes and memories of a much better time. Granted, that probably doesn't mean shit to a new player. You should have been born in the olden times like me bruh. We had it so good. You probably don't even know what Dunkaroos are!
I had a great time with this old-school RPG. The user experience has not aged very well, and it is essential to find the manual online and read it before playing. Lots of the negative comments in the reviews and on forums are complaining about things that they would know how to resolve if they had read the manual.
Oldie yet a goldie
