Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls

pretty janky third person shooter but honestly interesting to learn whats happening in the outside world after dr1 and before dr2. also, yuri!

Can't believe I haven't posted a review on this yet but this is the worst thing I have ever played. Not only a bad follow up to a great series that drops the ball on any kind of interesting storytelling and gets rid of the charming style of the first two games, but also filled with incredibly boring gameplay, backtracking, so many side missions that do not matter, and a bad story. There is not a single piece of praise I could give to this game, if it wasn't for the very slight yuri aspect. But girls being gay in fanfiction doesn't make up for the rest.

Ugly game in reality and in spirit

holy shit. what the FUCK was that "motivation" game. usually there's a bit of an uncomfortable sexual overtone but wow, that's.... that's too much, man. For those with a stomach, here's what that was: [spoiler] Komaru (a teenager, despite the game lore calling her an adult) gets captured by the pink child. You have to prevent her from being sexually assaulted by the pink child's groping robot while her face becomes flustered and visibly aroused. [/spoiler] "Motivation" game aside, this isn't a good game. I'm planning on finishing it because of sunk cost fallacy (I bought it 7 years ago and just came back today with a better PC).... but damn. I like the little banter and the exploration, but this game isn't quality and it isn't really a danganronpa experience, in my opinion. There are some interesting lore pieces that aren't really present in the other games, but unless you're a big fan of the series already, there probably isn't much you'll get out of playing.

Time: 30 Hours Status: Completed all Achievements UDG is an odd game in the Danganronpa Franchise that is worth a visit if you are interested in the story of the games. Chapter 3 is rough, but it doesn't take away from this weird and fantastically bizarre entry in the franchise. Overall: 8.5/10 (-1.5 A few too many puzzles)
