I'm a sucker for top-down twin stick shooters and I love retro graphics. I saw Creekside Creep Invasion and figured it would be right up my alley. Well it is, and actually the game is even better than I expected! This is one of the only really challenging twin stick shooters I have played, I can't seem to make it past the first part, but that's a good thing, most games like this have been a breeze for me. I'm getting a bit better each time I play so the game isn't impossible. As it's description says, CCI is a rogue-lite, and the gameplay is somewhat similar to Binding of Isaac and Nuclear Throne. Does it play just like those games? no, but if you've played and enjoyed those 2, then you should give CCI a shot. To me CCI is a lot like a game that few people are familar with, which would be a game called "All Zombies Must Die!". CCI is much better than that game, because for one, that game was way too easy for me and I also like the pixel art style of CCI much better! CCI has a uniqu...

About This Game

Stop the creeps in this nostalgic action roguelite!
Halloween night. A sleepy town called Creekside. A mysterious whirring jolts you from your sugar coma. As you peer out the window, wiping the sleep from your eyes, you question your sanity: Hordes of Creeps assemble around ominous antennas! Where are the cops?! Where are the adults?! Is no one going to stop this?! It turns out that the nefarious Dr. Apollyon opened a portal to the Bottomless Pit. It’s going to be up to you to stop Dr. Apollyon before he takes over the world! But first, save Creekside so we can all get back to trick-or-treating!
You play as a reluctant, middle-school hero named Squirt who awakens on Halloween to discover his town overrun by Creeps. Squirt’s weapons of warfare are randomized guns and costumes with unique abilities. Squirt’s gun has randomized attributes; deplete Squirt’s ammo, and Squirt will automatically switch to another randomized gun. Collect upgrade tokens to permanently unlock new ammo types. Roguelite means lots of deaths, but store upgrades, ammo unlocks, costume unlocks and money carryover. Five distinct zones make up Creekside; complete objectives to advance to the next zone.
Creekside Creep Invasion garners inspiration from the gameplay of Binding of Isaac and Nuclear Throne; the contemporary sub/urban setting of old school games like TMNT arcade, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, and River City Ransom; and a dash of the whimsy of EarthBound mixed in.

Features include:
- Full story between levels; set in 1989 on Halloween night.
- Four difficulty modes.
- Randomized guns with over 20 unique ammo types and combo versions that transform when you reload.

This is a extremely fun action rogue-lite/rogue-like game with a 1980's Halloween theme that has become one of my all time favorites. It has procedural generation (No two runs the same) with hidden and very difficult areas throughout the game. Ability to shoot in any direction with crazy cool Halloween themed ammo (like eggs, candy corn, and the ability to make all ammo explosive) that automatically changes to different ammo when current ammo is exhausted. You have gigantic bosses that drop gigantic loot. You have a 5 slot perk based armor that could give you good or bad effects. Controls work great on keyboard, which I play mainly. One of my favorite things beside all I have listed already is costumes.Yes....you get Halloween costumes that have active and passive abilities which make for some really fun runs. More are being added to the game frequently.I don't want to give to much information that may spoil others fun away so, I will just say again the costumes really and I mean real...
A very fun game that reminds me of those old arcade classics. Grab your weapon and fight all the monsters that are invading your town. The first level is hard, but I think I just need more practice. The graphics and sound are great and the controller support is very good. Hope to see how this game develops in Early access! https://youtu.be/5TTEu5M2GoQ
Love this game! Great graphics and soundtrack, pure 80's Halloween nostalgia
I LOVE rogue-lites and rogue-likes, and the occasional twin stick shooter. This game sort of fits both shoes without leaning left or right to hard. This is a gem. Character progression follows in a large number of unlockables which are rewarded for their corresponding coin or token, each has a upwards facing arrow but in different colors. Collecting these in numbers unlocks weapons, costumes and upgrades the Store - your spawn point and safe area found after each world/area. The Costumes are basically your special weapon. By spending some of your Stamina you can use the special attacks. The weapons occasionally kill me. Namely the fireworks due to the timed detonation. Basically they are landmines. The ammo you get is decided by random and whenever your immediate weapons ammo is depleted you are given a random new type of ammo. If you are unloading on enemies with bullets then all of a sudden your machine gun starts dropping land mines at your feet you can see how that can lead ...
It's like a low-rent Death Road to Canada (which is an awesome game), but it's hobbled by poor controls.
