About This Game

Beastiarium — plunge into the mysterious world full of secrets and monsters, its atmosphere will keep you in suspense throughout the story.
The action takes place in underground Petersburg in the beginning of 20th century, one hundred years later since the monsters invaded the planet. Survivors were forced to move underground and build a "new world". Next generations fully adapted to their new life and never again came to the surface. Underground hideaways were developed into full-fledged cities with complex infrastructure and life-support systems. However, the escape plan wasn't perfect: the underground cities were infiltrated by the monsters again and again, and people had to always be on guard. To control the situation, they established the Guard. But why are people afraid to leave their homes, and who is the true danger here?

Features of the game:
  • Combination of plot-driven quest and action-horror.
  • Seamless game world with sandbox elements.
  • Unique monster species and mysteries that you can cope with only if you find out their weaknesses.
  • Charismatic characters — each one with its own personality and background.
  • Developed using Unreal Engine 4 — the next generation engine.

At the time of writing, Beastiarium is the only game on Steam from developer/publisher Fazan. Released in December of 2016, it thus far has only a small base of gamers who have purchased it, and an even smaller community of reviewers that have taken the time to write their thoughts about this alleged horror/adventure/puzzle title. The only background to the "story" presented in the game is available for reading on the store page. Apparently, Beastiarium takes place in underground Petersburg at the beginning of the 20th century, and it has been 100 years since monsters have taken over Earth. The takeover caused all survivors to move underground and build a new world, but alas the cities that developed also got overrun by monsters. It is up to you to find out why people are afraid to leave their homes, and if the established Guard is actually there to protect the citizens, or if their purpose is more sinister. In-game, there are only a handful of narratives, none of which amount to much...

So bad it's almost good. A decent idea that quickly turns into a mess of confusing gameplay and premade assets. The badly translated voice acting and nonsensical plot will give some cheap laughs but not worth $20 (current price). Quick Look: https://youtu.be/SDpCuaGTZhg

I must say, this game is very short, some of the puzzles are not quite as good as i thought. It's not scary, neiter are there jumpscares. Besides, BGM is quite weird. Anyway, I can only give 3/ 5 for the game itself.

I love Grassy Beast! :3 :3 ohh I realy enjoy the atmosphere. Graphics looks awesome, music is cool. Puzzles are intresting, but in some place I used YouTube to solve it 😆 So if you like intresting atmosphere with background narrator and cuuuteeee monsters - yes! And thanks for full xbox-controller support and control tips. Many indie-developers forget about this)

It`s terrible. Graphics are nice, and that`s all. There`s simply no story. It`s a short, buggy, senseless experience of walking around with weird creatures roaming and killing you once in a while. It is depressive because in the first minute of the game it felt like the game had huge potential. After you get past Olga (1 minute and 10 seconds) it turns into a terrible, terrible, experience. I really hope the developers learn from this awful game and use their talent in the correct way now. Even at 3 euros this game is way too expensive. Play it if it is for free, otherwise you will just feel like I am feeling now.

The game well not the best graphics, is still quite pretty and mysterious. Some of the puzzles are creative and can be a bit brain cracking at imes but is still fun. There are still some bugs to be worked out, as i had 3 major gliches in the game. You can check out my playthrough on my channel in the link below. Enjoy like and subscribe :) https://youtu.be/i3_T-Te_qPs

I honestly am enjoying this game so far. It's a little bit difficult to know where to go and I made a video on this game that you can enjoy here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jDyC0XNyUY The elements are there for compelling game play and as someone who isn't a huge fan of horror based games this one absolutely caught my eye. It runs so very smoothly, except for the very beginning, but don't let that deter you from this one.

That was realy intersting and.. weird) Music and setting are awesome! Nice puzzles, nice graphics! The game is not long, but very diverse. The design is brilliant. You will not go an hour on the same locations. The game throws you from sewer into the park, from the park - into the maze, from the maze - on the sunflowers field. I am impressed by the author's imagination. 8/10

I do feel I have to recommend this, but only with some reservations. First off, this is done by a small studio, and the limited budget is obvious, but I don't want to dump on a new studio that holds some amount of promise. The game is incredibly short. I finished it in an hour flat (the rest of playtime for cards only). However, I have to say that I enjoyed that hour, and it kept the variety up. The story is kept deliberately vague. Something about an attack taking place on the people of Petersburg and the guards are absent and it's down to you to save the day. This sets you off on a remarkably varied, albeit disjointed adventure. In the course of the short playtime you will lure a gem-eating monster to smash up a grate, escape hordes of the crawling undead in a maze-like sewer system (one of the first sewer sections in a game to not actually be crap!), keep your eye of a spikey centipede like monstrosity which only moves while you look away as you search parts of a dismembered...
