Recommended but on a big discount. I was a big fan of Soul Calibur 2 and 4 in the past, so wanted to try this one as well. Soul Calibur series has its fair share of interesting and unique characters, each using their own unique weapon type and fighting style. And not to mention that the latter instalments also have the character creation mode to make your own characters to use in the game. Now I don't tend to play online, so this review is based on single-player experience only. This instalment boasts a wide selection of characters, as before. If you already have your favourites from the previous games, you'll find their fighting style still feels familiar and comfortable to use, but also with some new moves. Generally the flow of the fights is great, as you can string some good combos, move in 8-directions, combo and parry, and also perform special moves. The execution of the special moves can cause a bit of a break in the pacing due to them either going into slow motion or b...

Nice character design doesn't make a good game. My background with this type of arena fighting game goes way back to the Battle Arena Toshinden times, which gave me lots of fun while playing with my friends. Then it came Soul Calibur in the Dreamcast, which was quite nice too. By that time, I had already moved to PC gaming, which means I only had the chance to play a Soul Calibur game again with SCVI. I got to tell you I didn't have much expectation for this game, based in the players' review, and what I've found was below my low expectations. It's even difficult to decide where to start. The game doesn't have in game tutorials, so you got to read to learn how to play with the different characters. You can skip this, and try button smashing to discover the combos by yourself, but given the date this game was launched I do consider this a big downside. The single player AI combat is not good, as the difficulty levels are poorly balanced. In normal, the AI opponent just stands still, ...
very decent game for the ones who grew up with ps1 and ps3 recommend 9/10
One of the best Soul calibur games in history. Everyone is equal and has cool movesets and critical edges. I'd say this needs only 10 touch ups and this could be the best soul calibur game ever. Needless to say if you like fighting games with equal characters, online and offline play, story and cool movesets, or just wanted to tryout another soul calibur game, this one is for you
One of the best fighting games I've ever played.
I hope you like rock paper scissors
Online is pretty much dead as of 2025 but the single player content is great, the story and arcade mode is pretty fun. I think this is a game you should try if you're into fighting games just don't expect to find anyone to play with online.
pretty good dress up game and also has some fighting that stuffs cool too
if you played Soul Calibur 2~5, keep playing them. This stupid garbage here is worsened in EVERY way gameplay wise, as if on 5 it wasn't already a little bad. The so called "Mercenaries" in Libra of Soul are disgustingly DUMB, Create a Soul is the MOST mediocre, losing even to SCIV in content, and DLCs don't make this any better, since you'll only buy what was already given in previous games for FREE. Story is just a poor recycle of previous games, and so are character models. Libra of Soul as well, just go to SC III and play Chronicles of Sword instead, much better. Resuming, this shameful wannabe isn't worth even at sale with both Season Passes included. Your time will be much better spent playing previous games.
I will admit that I am a Soul Edge/SoulCalibur fan and have been waiting for a PC release for a super long time. As many have mentioned, this game is sort of a mixed bag. They made several changes to the game and most of them are good. Character animations have been improved. The levels are somewhat improved. And the collection of characters is awesome. The cameo characters are always a delight in this game. The mechanics for this game have not changed much. Each character has a fighting style with unique weapons. You cannot win just button mashing. A bit of strategy is required due to the length of each weapon and speed of that character. The things I did not care much for is the added flashiness. It can be tuned, but you can definitely tell something is missing. They also removed my favorite part of the game EXHIBITION MODE. A feature that demonstrated each characters style. I was hoping one day they would have created a DLC to patch it back in. But alas, there is not much in sup...
