METAL GEAR SURVIVE

METAL GEAR SURVIVE is one of the most controversial titles in the Metal Gear franchise, and for good reason. Released in 2018 by Konami in the wake of Hideo Kojima’s departure, the game takes the tactical espionage formula the series is known for and grafts it onto a survival horror framework. What results is a spin-off that’s part zombie survival, part base management sim, and part resource scavenger hunt—all wrapped in a post-apocalyptic reimagining of the Metal Gear universe. It’s a bold deviation from the franchise’s roots, and while it has flashes of intriguing mechanics and decent cooperative play, it ultimately struggles under the weight of its identity crisis and controversial baggage. An actual good solid game. (No pun intended) It will feel like a struggle at fist, that's where the survive part comes in, but it will be worth the work.

Unironically a fun and good survival game. Very challenging but enjoyable. Having played the game many years after Kojima's departure from Konami and the drama that followed, this game deserved far better than the initial reception it received. If it wasn't for the fans joining the bandwagon in hating the game, this game would be considered one of the better MGS spin-offs. It is a shame it didn't get the love it deserved. And although development on the game has stopped, I would love it if Konami continued support and started adding content to the game again, but as it is now it is still fun to play even to this day. I highly reccomend.

It should have been coop campaign... It's not really coop. And it's complicated to figure out how to play with friends.

What amounts to a very terrible experience at the start slowly becomes a somewhat decent experience, I remember getting through the entirety of the game on ps4 back in it first came out semi fondly. I cannot stress enough the first few hours of gameplay are extremely rough, and the story is barely there, but if you want to give it a try buy it when it's on sale.
