About This Game

Vulture Island is a platform adventure with a distinct focus on exploration to tickle your curiosity.

Rather than stacking up high scores and running towards the end of each level, you get to roam freely in an open world and explore caves, swamps, temples, pirate ships and more.

You collect objects along your way, solve puzzles and talk to NPCs, all while being wrapped inside the platform gameplay mechanism we all have to come to love since the golden era of 8-bit computers and consoles.

THE PLOT

Benjamin has built a spectacular flying machine to take him and his friends around the world.
During one of the first flight sessions something goes wrong. The youngsters have no choice but to parachute themselves to safety.

After an exhausting swim Alex, Paul and Stella end up on a distant island.
Barehanded and with no trace of Benjamin.

This is a cute little adventure platformer about a group of explorers trying to escape from a strange island. There are three playable characters, each with his own inventory and set of levels to complete, and finishing the game requires the player to complete all three paths. The game seems quite impenetrable at first -- the player will be able to accomplish remarkably little -- but slowly opens up as the characters accumulate items and solve puzzles. Each player begins with no method of defending himself, and the player will just have to avoid the monsters. It takes very few hits to kill the player, but death has few drawbacks; the player is returned to the world map with a loss of money, but keeps all items and puzzle progress that's been made, making death less frustrating than it otherwise would be, and encouraging exploration and experimentation -- key elements in a game like this. There are two major problems with Vulture Island. First is that some amount of grinding for money...

Vulture Island, the way i've experienced it so far, is a light hearted and atmospheric adventure game that lets you explore freely and figure out for yourself how to go about solving puzzles and defeating enemies with four different characters you can switch inbetween as you see fit. The game is good to control with keyboard or controller and you can also remap both of them, which is a big plus since the basic layout is not all that good in my opinion. The music as far as i can tell is a little repeptive on surface levels but it gets way better when you start to explore some caves and temples. All in all for that price, i would definitively give it a try and i'll be playing way more of it in the future.

Doesn't support my XB1 controller even though it clearly states that this game has "Full controller support". I can't even remap the keys in the settings menu to make it work.
