About This Game

Woken from a hypersleep, you find yourself alone on a drifting star cruiser, light years from home. The crew has disappeared, leaving behind nothing but a few scattered records and a strange artifact that seems to hold the key to an alien civilisation. As you search the empty ship, you’ll begin to piece together the mystery of the missing crew, and perhaps a way to unlock the artifact itself.

Played out in stunning 3D environments, The Artifact is a sci-fi themed spin on the classic escape the room game. Players explore different locations, using 22nd century technology to crack codes and solving increasingly head scratching puzzles that will help decipher the mystery of the alien device, and perhaps what lies beyond...

Key Features

* Beautiful 3D environments – explore the decks of your star cruiser, breaking open air hatches and exploring different areas…

* Head-scratching puzzles – use logic and experimentation to figure out how to break into the alien artefact…

* Immersive story – explore the ship for notes and documents that reveal the mystery of the missing crew. And why you’ve been left behind…

The Artifact is a puzzle game, i could compare it to The Room series. The game itself is ok, it takes max 1 hour to finish it, so its a very short one and pretty overpriced compared to The Room games, not even to mention that those are longer and more complicated, this one is a bit way too straightforward. The Game is recommended, its fun if you like such games, but i wouldnt recommend for full price. On sale i bought for 0,79eur on steam, i can recommend for that price, its within my 1eur/1hour for video games entertainment price range. Hey, iam an achievement hunter! Perfection time: max 1 hour This review was created for Average Achievement Hunter curator Follow my curator if you like to see achievement related informations (completion time, difficulty to get all achievements) on store page of the games. https://store.steampowered.com/curator/30168383-Average-Achievement-Hunter/ The curator ...

Recommend: Yes. Especially if you enjoy The Room series. The Artifact is a quick game, about 1 hour or even less for the savvy puzzle solver. Once I got into the 2nd room it made me think of The Room series of games. While this one was not as challenging it was still very enjoyable to go through and I would love to see these developers create more of the same concept. As such a short game there is not much to say without spoilers. But it should be noted that you use the mouse to look around, and click and drag to work the mechanics. And your progress is automatically saved just be sure you click Continue versus New Game on the main screen if you exit. The only problem i ran into while playing was in Chapter 3, there is a puzzle before the end of the game and after moving the first object the game froze. I couldn't click anything leaving me to Alt + F4. I was careful to click on Continue when i relaunched the game and it picked up right where i left off. In closing. Here's a ...

★ — 2/10 - Too pricey for what it has to offer. Being a fan of puzzle games, I was looking forward to playing The Artifact as it claimed to have a beautiful 3D environment, head-scratching puzzles, and an immersive story but unfortunately, none of those claims were actually met. I think it's obvious that a lot of the inspiration for The Artifact came from the "The Room" game series (which is hands down one of my favorite puzzle game series ever) but it feels a lot less polished and plays a lot more clunky. While the environment sure is a 3D environment, I feel like there are too little things in too much open space. Yes, I do understand that it's supposed to be a space station but with only a very limited number of interactable objects and only a couple of puzzles in each room, it makes the world feel empty. The puzzles were a complete let-down for me as they were far from head-scratching, the contrary, they were way too easy and straight-forward which is probably why it only t...

A very short (took me 37 minutes, I am used to puzzle games) but enjoyable game. This may be a good introduction for people who haven't got a whole lot of experience with puzzle solving type games yet, and since it is perfectly harmless and requires little specific knowledge, it is suitable for players of all ages, too. If the developers ever wish to spend some more time on it, I think there is room to give the artifacts some more elaborate designs with more detail, they seem a bit simple the way they are - like functional placeholders - but work as basic gameplay elements.

What is "The Artifact"? An artifact is something that usually is ancient or holy and serves a purpose that isn't obvious. Not to be confused with a Valve game of a similar name, "The Artifact" is a Unity Engine point and click first person adventure. Now I didn't play "Myst" or its series much, but the perspective and gameplay are likely similar. So let us dive right into the analysis. Story: There is unfortunately not much story. It is set two centuries in the future. You awake on a spaceship, from your cryo-sleep. Your crew - apparently except two people who are still in cryo-sleep and can't be woken up - has gone missing. At least you don't see anyone around on board. Soon you discover that the crew of your ship "Intrepid" was analyzing a myserious artifact. Naturally, you try to unlock its powers, aided by a bio-enhancement that lets you see hidden things but is used only for a few puzzles. Gameplay: The gameplay is that of a "Myst" like point and click adventure. You move and ...

So Far so Good. I like the concept. This is a very simple 1st person puzzle story game. I would say it is like The Room. This is not an advance puzzle game however. Always make sure you look at the Achievements available for any game. If you do you will see this is only 4 Chapters; And the Chapters are not long. If you want an advanced puzzle game this would not be what you are looking for. All in all I would recommend this game for young children to hone problem solving skills. Also my length of time was NOT 4.6 hours, as i was having some pc issues and my computer sorta locked up; when I originally opened this game. As stated by a previous review this was at most an hour long distraction.

Well, what to say about this game? I wanted it to be good and intriguing and thought provoking and fun exploration but instead it was kind of boring, buggy, frustrating (because I could only look at certain things but not others) and seemed to just have some random puzzles thrown in at the end to make it last longer. The story was barely there. There was no real backstory to what was going on other than a couple of log notes that didn't really explain anything. The captions telling you what your character was thinking were in white, so sometimes you couldn't read them very well because what they were superimposed over was too light (moving the camera around a bit helped but if you it moved too far from the trigger spot the text vanished). It was also very, very short. I completed it in a bit over an hour and that was only because I had to get up and leave the game running for about ten minutes while I took the dogs out for a pee. It had potential, but in the end was just meh.

Much too short for it's price. It's good as a basis for a full release, but at full price not worth it.

I enjoyed The Artifact. I wish the story was a bit longer but it's still interesting nonetheless. Buy it sometime!

A simpler and easier super-short 1-hour The Room knockoff that's effective enough to be worth it if you get it for less than 1 western currency unit.
