    About the Game

Please note that Update Two is a massive overhaul and is currently available on the [beta] branch.

Enter the world of Arakion, a grid-based role-playing game that pays homage to classics while adding its own style with fresh mechanics. Lead a band of three heroes through a broken land, ripped apart by unknown forces. Explore a beautiful handcrafted world filled with crumbling dungeons, dense forests, ancient temples, and hidden secrets, all while attempting to build a safe-haven from the chaos.

    The Story

Play as three adventurers awoken in a world torn by conflict, where the lands and rivers have been ripped from the ground. In the midst of this upheaval, there is but one desire - finding a place free from the conflict and chaos. In the search for order, your heroes must find a way to stop the destruction from continuing.

Between your intrepid adventurers and their goal exists a council of immortal beings. They are known as The Ancients. The Ancients wandered Arakion since before written history. Their plan is simple - utter annihilation for all who oppose them.

It's time to begin your story, will you be the world's salvation or destruction?

    The Background

Arakion takes everything that made classic role-playing games like Might & Magic great, then adds an expansive set of new features. Lead your heroes through the breathtaking, desolated world of Arakion. Explore every alcove for the resources you need to customize your adventurers, build your town, and more. Relive the glory days of role-playing games with this one-of-a-kind experience. Arakion is a beautiful world where you will get lost in adventure and exploration.

Arakion takes inspiration from a multitude of games - everything from Dungeon Master to Fable to Dark Cloud 2. Arakion takes everything that makes those games fun and brings it into one amazing package.

Still beginning stages in some places, but the amount of content already here is amazing. The crafting system is something I've never seen in a game before, and it's incredibly fun to discover new things to make. Combat is challenging but not impossible and being able to tell if something is close to dead is great. The leveling system is really great, reminds me of Path of Exile a little bit. Really excited to see how this grows.

First of all, let me start by saying that I'm a fan of grid-based dungeon crawlers, and I buy/play all of them when they're released. So it's going to be hard for me not to recommend this game :) Arakion is in a weird spot. It has tons of potential for a long, epic adventure. The EA is a quarter of the full game and there's already more in that than in entire full games in the same genre. During my dozen of hours of adventuring, I've been to a dozen non-linear open-world areas ( centered around a hub in which you have some basic base-building and crafting elements ) and half a dozen dungeons. The dungeons look and feel nice, with some good dynamic lighting and shadowing effects, tons of traps, pitholes, pressure plates and the usual. The environment can be used against enemies. The puzzles have a deja-vu feeling, especially if you've played other games in the genre, but there's a good balance of basic and challenging puzzles, combined with a couple "boss" fights in locked areas. The ...

I'm unable to play the game on linux due to a party creation bug relating to race selection not working/being recognized. I recognise that it's early access but I payed for this game and cannot play it at all and it's been this way a long time. So until this changes I can't recommend the game for linux users. I'll update my review if/when this changes. Developer is very helpful working on the issues and will hopefully be able to resolve them.

The game is a nice first person dungeon crawler that went old school, unfortunatly it seems like it is a little early for the game, there really wasn't glitches, the movent for that type of game was very slow and it just felt like the game dragged on. After about 15 minutes I was already bored and still didn't really know what was going on in the game. The sceneray is nice and the soundtrack was calming but felt like everything sounded the same. Combat was horibble and the crafting seemed boring as well. The game probably just isn't my cup of tea but I would definitly wait until it goes on a big sale before you purchase this game. The game was bland and boring 4/10

Minigames, check. Puzzles, in full force. Crafting and hunger too. An immersive adventure of intoxicating fantasy elements with the respect and adoration of blobbers from gaming lore. Turnbased or real time grid movement and combat, this one man DEV has made quite a peculiar yet familiar little gem. While not complete, Arakion Book One is still playable and one can see the ambition and ideas behind all that is unfinished. But what is good about what is there STILL does not convey a project with direction, because it is difficult to estimate a serious connotation of execution from my perspective. Just hopping on the wagon now, I have seen earlier builds and read previous reviews and they don't appear to be congruent to what is the latest build now, which is all fine and alright, it being early access, but it is a trying time to determine what is under construction and what is permanent even with the cryptic content of certain puzzles or mechanics. It is a wonderful little world, so f...

Honestly I'm really enjoying the game, its difficult on legend/ironman mode. Loving the crafting, but the stamina in combat kinda irritates me, feels like I spend more time dancing so I dont get beaten to death, while i'm waiting for my stamina to regen. Then I lose out on the bonus xp for moving, at least im guessing thats what the multiplier bar is when you are in combat. The game is amazing in so many ways, but when I keep falling through the ground and either dying or getting stuck, then having to use Mr.Maker, and sac 30% of my shards. it's pissing me off. If you can get by falling and losing shards at random, or having the permanent debuff that you called upon Mr.Maker. Then buy this, you won't regret it. If not, wait till its out of early access.

Looks gorgeous with some fantastic music and game world to explore but the movement controls, user interface are incredibly clumsy making moving/manipulating things very frustrating to use killing any sense of natural movement and immersion.
