About This Game

Description

Jumper Jape is a skill-based hardcore platformer game. The game is about getting from one side of the screen to the other without dying. This might sound easy enough but a single touch from a spike will instantly kill you and send you back to the start of the level.

All levels consists of a single static screen filled with hazards. If you think you have what it takes, give it your best shot. This game is not to be considered easy.

The story is told with the help of signs placed in the levels and it progresses as you complete levels and get further. If you rather just focus on the gameplay you can ignore the story all together, the choice is yours.

The recommended input method is a good gamepad/controller but keyboard works just as well if you prefer it.

This is a game in the "hardcore platformer" tradition, which here (and typically) means a run-and-jump game with short but hard levels with infinite lives. Why play these games? Because you get to: -immerse yourself in running and jumping, the most humanly-intuitive mechanics of any game -plot out and slowly learn to execute action sequences to get yourself through a challenging environment -experience radical improvement and overcome challenge through skill and practice alone This game delivers the above pleasures, and features -Visual clarity: always a plus in skill-based games. Admittedly this comes from simplistic graphics, but I actually prefer this to some platformers, like Rayman or Donkey Kong games, whose slick graphics can get in the way. -A simple but well-chosen set of mechanics: double-jumps, extra-jumps, gravity-reversers, and lasers with toggle switches. Double-jump in particular is a fantastic tool to enrich platformers, and is still under-used. Jumps are hei...

Great little game. Nice and short (the way I like my games. No tedious 30 hour epics for me thanks!), tight and brutal platforming, and a really beautiful soundtrack.

Hard as **** this game. Though it really invites me to keep on trying. Expect some cursing late at night, trying to beat that one level that seems impossible to beat. Would certainly recommend!

I used to LOVE "Jumper 2" and "Jumper Redux" (and all the other hardcore platformers of a decade or so ago). It's been years since I saw one that catches the essence of those ones so perfectly as Jumper Jape. And nice story as well...

The type of game that fulfills the wish for more in a specific style. Doesn't do anything over the original Jumper games, and actually takes a few steps back. No wall jump like in 2, edgier but slightly drabber story, level design slightly worse, uglier art style, and it's just kind of like a fucking short romp (as reviewers like to say). All to say: it's a 6/10 spiritual successor to a 7/10 original.

This one definitely has legitimate challenge, but it still needs work. Some of the hit detection on the spikes feels off by a hair and the expected precision seems a bit much. There's also the issue with some of the stages being a little too long for the difficulty they present, especially the final stage. One final note, this game can be beaten in under 2 hours.

Good gameplay. Fun for people who like to avoid obstacles when we have precision platformers to play.

10/10 would jump out of cliff in frustration again.
