WHAT’S THE STORY BEHIND THE HOUSE OF DA VINCI?

However, Leonardo's workshop is full of puzzles, inventions, escape mechanisms and objects hidden in all corners of beautifully decorated rooms. We’ve applied our own imagination to the story of the world’s greatest inventor, Leonardo da Vinci, providing players with unique special abilities throughout gameplay. I love puzzle games, but not this one. It is beautiful, yes. But the controls are bad. To be able to move some levers in different positions you need to move the camera around a lot, so the moving of things is more difficult than the puzzle itself. Often I was trying to move or open something and it didn't work because I had to focus/move in to the object one or 2 more times. There is no indicator how often and where you are able/needed to "zoom in" on something. A lot of the puzzles consist of finding a tiny button somewhere in a big room. Some of the actual real puzzles are very unintuitive and you are often wondering what to do now and where to do it. The hints are completely unhelpful, always only stating the obvious. Sometimes they at least tell you which machine to consider now, but often they even just they "the table" in a room with 3 tables. Additionally you are supposed to search every room 3 times with different "lenses" to spot hidden markings. It's not all bad, but I spend...

Some of the puzzles are obtuse as hell, and others are derivative (there's even a sliding puzzle). I still haven't got around to finishing it.

The art work is beautiful. The controls are slow, imprecise and awkward. The puzzles more interesting only because the controls are so bad . I bought the three game pack but I am not convinced that it is worth my time.

Good! Some of the puzzles are a bit tedious but if you enjoyed playing The Room series, you'll get a kick out of The House of Da Vinci.

I got this because I enjoy puzzle games (started way back when playing the original MYST). The puzzles themselves are a mix of really simple, moderate which require some creative thought, and seemingly random/arbitrary with no rhyme or reason. If you can look past the latter, then it's got a solid foundation for a puzzle game. Several of the puzzles would benefit from a manual 'reset' if you get stuck going down the wrong path. Happy to see that the couple where you can deadlock yourself auto-reset. The controls are probably the biggest downside of the game. Navigating around is unintuitive and unclear where you can and cannot go. Right click to 'backtrack' is really annoying because (at least for me) that is the cancel action for when you're currently doing (in the middle of a puzzle for example). Being in the middle of something and suddenly walking backwards to the entrance of the whole area is really jarring. I know the game is 8ish years old at this point, but I hope that they cha...

A very nice puzzle game with a good theme and lovely soundtracks, not to the level of "the room" but a solide contender ^^

Game looks and sounds amazing. And for the most part, the puzzles are very fun and you get just enough clues to figure out what to do. But as the game goes on, the puzzles make less and less sense in each chapter. Most of the chapter puzzles you can get, but then you are wandering around clicking everything looking for something that is very hidden and not explained at all. Made some of the later chapters difficult to figure out. As for the achievements, there are only 6. And you really have to look around to find a couple of them and not every chapter has one which can have you looking everywhere for something that is not there. And they have nothing to do with solving puzzles. Overall, I reallt liked the game but it can definitely test your patience.

A very good point and click puzzle game. We only had to use the hints feature a few times and it was to find some small place to click. The graphics and sound are good. Moving was good. We didn't like how the view was limited in some places. The puzzles were fun and challenging. The story added to the overall fun. We would recommend playing this game.
