About the Game

Welcome prisoners to SCUM Island! Where participation is non voluntary, the environment is cruel and inhabitants even crueler. You will work off your crimes and debt to society by attempting to survive and entertain the masses. And do not think that death will save you, as your service has just begun.

SCUM is the hardest and most realistic open world survival game, where every aspect of survival is done in important details. From inventory management, weapon maintenance, stamina management to the most detailed metabolism system ever created in a video game. Think you have what it takes? Deploy on the island and find out!

Main features

The island

Biggest map made in Unreal engine 4 with 225㎢, based on all aspects of Croatian territory. From the beautiful Adriatic coastline, lush forests to harsh cold mountain sides. Riddled with various POIs including villages, towns and cities, military installations, factories and civil infrastructure. And lastly danger areas such as highly protected bunkers, abandoned ones filled with danger and a whole irradiated zone filled with dangers seen and unseen.

Metabolism

Take a deep dive into the most complex and greatest metabolism system ever done. Take care not only that you eat and drink to survive but also what you eat and drink to get the optimum experience out of your prisoner. Tying in to an in-depth health system and hefty RPG like system of attributes and skills, make sure your diet fits your play style, as much as you can.

Dangers

Plenty of dangers await you on the island. Experiments that went wrong in the form of mutated monsters and former contestants raised as puppets, other survivors willing to kill for their own benefit, radiation leaking from the rundown nuclear power plant and other players trying to make a name for themselves.

Craft and loot

Plenty of gear to choose from to help you in your survival, whether it is crafted or looted. Melee weapons, bows, firearms, clothing, bags and in-depth cooking system. A tool for every trade, what and how you utilize them is your choice.

Maintenance

Whether it is your favourite rifle, or that lucky pair of jeans, make sure your gear is properly maintained. Depending on it is how much gear you can carry, weapon jamming, quality of crafting.

Vehicles

Land, sea or air there is a vehicle for you. With a complete modular system, add and remove parts to your vehicle. Add armour parts or strip it down to bare bones, choosing between protection or style, zip around the map in comfort.

Multiplayer

Choose from any number of our servers with 64 other players and try to survive together, or against each other. Or host the server yourself and tailor the experience as much as you want with our massive server setting customization options.

If you get good at the game they will simply ban you, Don't waste your time. Devs do not care if you're false banned or not, There mindset is "oh well just buy another copy". Meanwhile actual cheaters run rampant. Officials are infested with cheaters that they refuse to ban and the entire community relies on one person to ban cheaters across all the servers, It's pathetic. All of the admins apart from 1 are useless. I've worked with this admin to ban Hundreds of cheaters. Don't get me started on private servers these people are pure Snowflakes if you show any form of skill they will ban you. The constant harassment/accusations "can you record this" "my base is unraidable" "it's impossible to pick 4 golds in 4 attempts". The end game content is non existent all you do is train a character forever by Dancing in a PVE zone(Usually with macros btw), Build a base to afk inside of until some cheaters decides to make everything disappear after going offline for 20 minutes. ⚠️ SCUM Review — 4,000 Hours In, and Still Not Giving Up (Yet) Let’s get one thing straight: I love SCUM. I've poured just shy of 4,000 hours into this game — through wipes, crashes, bugs, brilliant updates, and broken mechanics. I’ve built bases in the woods, hunted players across the map, died to puppets, died to lag, died to hackers... and come back every time. Because when SCUM works, it’s one of the most immersive survival experiences out there. But here’s the thing: It’s starting to feel like we’re surviving the dev cycle more than the game itself. 🔥 The Good (And It's Still Damn Good) The gunplay? Sharp and satisfying. The survival mechanics? Deep and rewarding. The map? Massive, beautiful, and brutal. The freedom? Unmatched. You want to go full PvP warlord, stealthy forest hermit, car hoarder, RP trader, or a one-man vengeance story — SCUM lets you. That’s why I keep coming back. The sandbox has so much potential it’s insane. 🐛 But th...

I have put in a tremendous amount of time playing and tormenting over this game. All in all I am now pissed and at a point, especially after the 1.0 release, where I am too tired and fed up of the Puppets bleeding through walls and spawning in random locations, Mechs still shoot through multiple solid objects etc etc. The time it takes to loot and set up a character to only be utterly screwed over is just not worth playing anymore. Spending hours to have it all ripped away because of faulty programming just isn't worth it. Buy another game that wont steal your precious time. Also, the game is called Scum for a reason. The fan base outside of the game seems okay but in-game it's a totally different animal. For those of you willing to buy this game and spend your precious time on just be prepared to be consistently upset.

I used to love this game, like really love it, but since 1.0 i have to say it's been a downwards slope with everything. Lots of us have played this for years in early access and you have milked a lot of them for up to 110 € in DLC along the way. Mind you, DLC during early access... Along the way, we were promised a lot of things, promises that never got fulfilled, just always followed up with a Soon or a Stay Tuned. But not only that, 1.0 was a spit in the face for the people who have backed them for years. First they gave us a map overhaul nobody asked for and removed several player favorite bunkers from the map and turned them into these tiny boring hidden ones, most roads through cities now have unclearable roadblocks on them and while doing that, they still managed to bring in 90% of the map bugs from before, along with additional ones. They destroyed the map more or less compared to what it once was. And not only that, they promised us so much during early access and we ha...

Made it where you couldnt buy lead plates from trader, and reduced the amount of bunkers in the game. Literally killed the end game loop. The devs for this game are dumb as bricks.

as per the usual history of gaming, devs are more worried about cosmetics than actually fixing anything. cosmetics for you to buy.... meanwhile a lot of core aspects are left ignored. gross negligence to cause and effect when it comes to how they want the game to work. like a cotton T shirt suddenly weighing 15 kilos after a rain and then taking hours for items to dry out. your supposed to be wet an incumbered but then the devs didnt think far enough ahead to give you an effective way to solve the issue. they keep doing it too. mean while, they never fixed the mec's Xray vision, or their ability to shoot through concrete walls. the puppet spawn system seemed ok a year ago. but now they magically appear in a place you already looked and cleared out. im calling the game broken. and not at all worth investing in, because now the devs are more woried about micro transactions and making things look better. did i mention, a brand new gun, with brand new mags and new ammo, jams on the first m...

The developers can't deliver on a proper game and refuse opening up mod support. Issues that modders can resolve are rampant and easily resolved by a regular developer by leveraging well known existing items and systems. Much of us older players thought 1.0 would resolve many issues. However, all they managed to do was create new ones.

It’s an okay game, but I’ve started to read the community posts and they just say, “It’s in consideration” and never actually do anything. I’ve been reading a few, and every single one has the same requests that people keep asking for. This time it SHOULD be in the game, but naaah… laziness is better. And here’s one that really shows how hypocritical the devs are. For example, one of the community posts was about using the magnifying glass to zoom in on the map, since the map is kinda useless. But then the devs responded that it might affect immersion. Now here comes the hypocrisy: it breaks immersion to use something that zooms the map, but apparently it doesn’t break immersion to spawn with items on EVERY SINGLE RESPAWN, or to release DLC with “famous” characters. So basically, the only thing that’s considered immersive is what makes them money, what benefits them. It’s sad that the game doesn’t have basic features or any QoL improvements at all. But do...

This game represents mediocrity at its peak. Nearly 10 years of dragging along and promising mountains only to produce a hill. Awkward animations, stupid AI, boring gameplay, lifeless world, generic enemies, and a horrible enemy spawning system. This is another generic, bland, and underwhelming survival game that thinks a piss and shit meter is enough to set it apart from the rest when it's just as bland as unseasoned chicken.

So, this is not my first purchase and I have more than 1000 h in game total. I mostly played 2 years ago and returned now with the release. Game is not at release state. I jumped to official pve server and this is my experience of the first week: I have lost a chest full of loot by taking it in hands - it’s just disappeared. I have broken my fish line multiple times because fish animation bugged at the end of mini game. I have encountered multiple hordes and npc spawns few meters in front of me. I have not found any vehicle because apparently some clan locked all vehicles on the pve server. I spent more time trying to dry my clothes than exploring the POIs. Developers, I support your project since release and I hope you will open your eyes and immediately address issues that ruin player experience. You have enough feedback and resources to do so.
