Quern - Undying Thoughts

Me and my wife loved it overall. In detail: pros: - big world and puzzles interconnected - beautiful soundtrack and atmosphere - lore 10/10 - nice and original puzzles - a tad difficult here and there cons; - we haven't managed to use a controller appropriately - a tad difficult here and there A must for all fans of the genre!!

I've been longing for something that would give me the feelings I had when I played MYST back when it first came out, followed by RIVEN. Those hold a special place for me. I went through a long period of time where gaming wasn't something that I wanted to do in my spare time, but now that I'm older and have more time, finding Quern has given me back the nostalgia and love of puzzle solving gaming that I was looking for.

If you like adventure puzzle games, just play all the Blue Brain ones. They're goated in this genre. Just finished Quern, excellent puzzles - really enjoyable without being too far away from logical solutions like some other games in the genre. Da Vinci series is brilliant. Can't wait for Tesla. Visually very good and solid regarding gameplay. The puzzle level is not beginner friendly. A few puzzles are a bit tedious and lenghty.

The game introduces its logic elegantly, and solves the progression creatively, making it a fun challenge. The game has a decent atmosphere, precise mechanics, and mysteries that carry a somewhat lighter tone compared to games like Myst.

This is a game that takes a lot of time. The soundtrack is just my sort of thing (also available to buy / stream). People say that it's like Myst, but that's not a game I have played. It's also mentioned in the same breath as Blue Prince. The puzzles are tricky, but not impossible. The game is old enough that you can rely on walkthroughs if you need to. I didn't get any hints from anyone (brag). Some puzzles rely on reading, and some on music, which will be a problem if you have low vision (me) or are completely tonedeaf. I found it really engaging. The "plot" was a bit nebulous, but the vibe was excellent.

I really enjoyed this game, great puzzles, nice atmosphere, decent story. I didnt really like the whole pipe puzzle near the end, it didnt make any sense to me and i had to look at walkthrough. The ending options is pretty meh too, basically only gives you on different line of dialog and thats it. Which is a shame, i expected a bit better ending, but that said i didnt play it that much for story but more for the experience and cool puzzle. So deffinitely worth playing through.

Brilliant. Puzzles not so difficult that they become tedious. Immersive adventure. Good guidance without being obvious. Enjoyable gameplay and size without being compromised for high quality graphics, over-complication etc.

Great game! Well designed, interesting puzzles, good story, overall great way to waste almost 60 hours
