About This Game

In a creaky old tavern, in a forgotten corner of the video game universe, a storm is raging. The barkeep gets a patchy phone call. It's hard to tell what the caller is saying, but this much is clear: someone in The Six Pint Inn is planning a murder.

There are six patrons; all of them are video game protagonists trying to escape their past... But The Six Pint Inn has a way of bringing back old memories. Each flashback plays out in an entirely different genre, sometimes blending multiple. By exploring these memories you may discover the identity of the murderer... or you may learn much darker secrets.

In The Hex you will...

  • Control the six patrons and explore The Six Pint Inn
  • Delve into the memories of these cast-aside game protagonists to learn the truth of their past
  • Learn the identity of the would-be murderer... as well as the victim

The Hex takes roughly 6 hours to complete on the first playthrough.

Damn this game is something special. It definitely has more than the steam page info lets on, but I definitely can't spoil what. Just know that this game is a wild ride, and definitely worth playing for the mystery alone. Speaking of which, that is the main appeal of this game. It doesn't have really deep and complex game mechanics that you learn and have grow over the course of the game. If you're after that, this game isn't for you. But what it does offer is so unique that it's worth it regardless. The game's about 5-6 hours long, and the price you pay is definitely fair. It isn't a steal, but it's good value for what you're getting. It gets an 8/10 from me,.

Was I not part of any video game clubs for the past 8 years? Was everyone just asleep when this game came out? Do people just not hate video games and video game history?! I feel like I've been lied to, by not hearing about this game until recently. This is one of the most entertaining trips down memory lane with one of the most subversive gameplay arcs I've ever been involved in. I've usually drawn out games like this, but this was completed in like three sittings. I had to see where it was going. Also, there were a couple of absolutely bone-chilling moments for me. It was kind of obvious and silly, even telegraphing then, but they still got to me. It's as pixelated as it appears on the surface. It's a slow paced, point and click, but also, a bunch of other things. You have to play it to understand, which is frustrating, but is the truth. Like a good scary movie - you just have to experience it for yourself! (If you liked this, download and play “Beneath the Surface” … Li...
