About This Game

The illegitimate love child of Space Invaders and Tetris.

Blockships is a game about building the biggest baddest ship by blasting your buddies’ to bits and stealing their blocks - a local multiplayer party-arena game that challenges you to strike the right balance between speed, power, maneuverability, and of course fun! Build, blast, and rebuild your ship - all in the heat of battle.

"Why do do the bad guys always drop power ups?" Surely blasting to victory using the fallen remnants of your defeated foes would be more fun! Build up your core to take down enemy ships. Grab guns to Blast 'em to bits, add Engines to speed up and give them the slip - or ram them head on and expose their weaknesses. Or bolster your ship with Power Cells and grow to enormous size. Protect your Core at all costs!

Each ship configuration has strengths and weaknesses and is almost infinitely reconfigurable. Experiment with multiple different strategies and rapid reconfigurations to overcome enemy tactics. Beat their firepower with speed, and their speed with size in an infinite number of ship combinations - sometimes its full speed ahead, sometimes its cut and run, and victory can be yours balanced on the barrel of a Gun.

Imagine you're walking along a busy convention hall and wander past the dedicated indie section of the game stands. There's alot going on, but one stall catches your attention... a big screen and a few guys stood there. A charasmatic cheeky chappie on a PA system is explaining the controls to some players before looking around the room. "We need one more player!" he says with passion equivalent to a herald of the gods on mount olympus declaring the next ascendant of a mortal. You turn and raise your hand, can't be that difficult right? The lads eyes flare into life, "Yes sir. Right this way!" he says, ushering you into the spotlight, the gathering growing crowd ushering you forwards with applause. You take the controller, he rushes through the controls. "Well i'm gonna mess this up" you think fumbling the controls. The game begins, instantly you scramble to build a ship, "What am I dodging? What am I shooting? Who am I?" you think to yourself as you're eliminated by the man next...

First played this at a gaming event and thought it was a great party game. It has that sense of drama that all good party games need, players being able to come back from near defeat and then clinch victory. Also it's very easy to just pick up and start playing . The player selection screen is cleverly turned into a practice area before the match starts so any new people can get the hang of things very quickly. Recently downloaded so I could play some younger relatives aged 5, 13 and 16. All had great fun playing and requested it again. Will def play agian with friends/family especially as new content gets added.

It´s an really awsome Game and makes a lot of fun, and it makes even more fun when you play wih more Players. It´s still in a very early stage of development, there are no settings etc. but worth every penny. Also for me I have to use controllers because keyboard doesen´t work, at least for me. I would recommend this Game to everyone with friends, because right now you can´t play it alone. 10/10 Edit: Keyboard is working

Super fun game to play, I found this at EGX. It's simple and fun, and when the online multiplayer hits I'll be playing it a lot more

Now this game... I'm so happy I went to EGX: just for finding out about this game. You will not find anothergame quite like this. It is so fun. The game is so well refined, being a bit fiddly to rotate blocks and remove blocks from corners of a cube structure. But this shouldn't push your choice away from it. If you think you could enjoy it, even if the features such as online multiplayer and bots arn't there yet, support it, buy it, try to get some friends to try it out with you. Bottom line is you won't regret backing this game as that £4.99 / $6.25 / €5.89 will aid these talented people form a full game of content. This game is amazing!!!!!! Why hasn't this been done yet, 90s?! what the hell where game companies doing?! So simple and yet so amazing.

Had the wonderful opportunity to play Blockships at a friends before getting it today ready for a trip home! Despite being an early access title it's already incredibly solid and a joy to play, there's nothing quite like smashing a few friends on a big screen. Don't get me wrong there's a few small bugs to iron out and hopefully more features to come (online multiplayer please!) but we had an absolute blast playing the game together and I'm looking forward to getting some more games in. Right now I absolutely recommend this as a must-have party game! Given that it's below £5 for the hours of fun this will bring it's an absolutely steal!

Been playing Blockships for a long time, at various trade shows, and it's just pure unadulterated fun. Everyone from young to old gets it immediately and then it's just game after game of explosions, laughter, and victorious cheering. It's easy to pick up but there's a great amount of depth and strategic awareness to the gameplay. You try to keep track of both the contents and positioning of your opponents' ship parts, the blocks scattered around the level, and the blocks you have available. Building to counter opponents on-the-fly is super unique, and the entire battlefield can change in an instant with a skillfully placed shot.
