Do you like Space Rangers or Star Wolves or some tactical games like this? Believe me this is CASUAL "Space Rangers" with turn-based tactics! Pros: Graphics and level disign are simple and beautiful and very well designed. But UI like on mobile and definatly too big! This is a simple tactical game but gameplay not so typical for turn-based games. But is impressively intuitive. Cons: The most obvious first: It's not finished. I guess developers add some features on first DLC. Honestly, I don't think a tutorial is really necessary, but I for one will be happy to see the campaign mode more detailed. I recomend to add it to your wishlist and buy on steam sale.

The quickest and easiest way to describe Star Tactics is this: imagine taking Steambirds (an old Flash-turned-mobile game involving an air war during a Steampunk timeline) and changing the setting to outer space with starships. Instead of airships, you have capital ships; instead of propeller-driven or jet-powered aircraft, you have space fighters, etc. That's pretty much it. Even the control scheme (where you guide your units using arrows) and special abilities (such as a defensive shield or a 180 degree turn) are nearly identical to Steambirds. After requesting an options menu be implemented, the developer readily responded and added one. The options menu now lets you set music and sound effects, as well as resolution, advanced effects, and gives you the choice to play in windowed mode. Despite my harsh comparison to Steambirds, the fact remains that Star Tactics is an entertaining, albeit somewhat simple, game. It's not meant for people to spend all day playing, but for those w...

Doesn´t say Early Access so I guess this is the finished product. Entertains about an hour before it get´s tedious. In that time I have done about 2/3 of the "campaign". The campaign is jsut 30 levels without any story, cutscenes or context. Most of those are won by runnign away and spamming torpedoes while exploiting the AI. Also has some obvious design flaws like havign to reasign every order every turn. Why can´t they just remember the direction and speed I gave them, making me only waste clicks when I want them to change course, not every time? But it´s cheap and with steams refund policy there is no harm in trying it out. Just don´t expect anything above a nice flashgame.
Fun mobile game
This game is a mobile port, and it shows. Still, I've found it really fun to play, my main regret is that there's no 4X game with simillar combat mechanics. Pro

Easy to learn, yet tactical.
Graphics are not impressive, yet they work really well. It's like commanding your space army from a radar screen.
Two campaigns, one where you control big fleets, the other one you control fighters.
The ships have inertia, so you have to think where eveything is going to be after the turns end or you won't be able to evade your enemies.
Cheap.
Should run well on old computers.
Cons

As many mobile games, it's kind of shallow.
Graphics are non impressive, can get boring fast.
The epic background music gets old fast.
The story and setting are ok, but not very interesting.
I wanted this game to be frozen synapse in space, but it's not. It really needs tool tips, and lower learning curve, level 3 is going to take quite a few wipes before you 'get it'.

The game has got potential, its fun, the ai is challenging. However it still needs a bit more. With extra time this could be a game i would frequently play. Looking forward to more content updates!

I definitely recommend this game! It of one of the few really good old school strategies that needs you to think. It's deep, addictive and well balanced. This game isn't a walk in the park, it challenged me well, but there was no frustration, just skill and tactics. EDIT: Thax for options hot fix. Its good when developers react on Players feedback that fast! /I believe it would be release on mobile too!

Every level of the game there is something new and levels are not long so it's not boring to play. I remember I've played Battlefleet Gothic: Armada mostly in tactical view that is why I'm not afraid of that kinda graphics. I bought this game and I don't regret it.

I found this game when looking for something with mechanics similiar to the X wing miniatures game. It is ascetic in presentation and there is not much besides battles. No ship costumization or deployment. But for a fan of fleet battles it delivers. The difficulty level is good and you will get nice variety of missions and ships. I will definitely want to see a sequel to this game with better graphics and more depth. If I didn't convince you to buy this at full price but you still looking for some tactical turn based combat, add the game to wishlist and get it on some sale;)
