Huge dissapointment. The buses feel very-very fast, the graphics are ok, but the optimization, and the driving controls are very off. They also released a DLC for almost the same price as the main game while in early access. Not recommended.

About the Game
The Bus is a city bus simulation game in which you drive different buses on different routes around Berlin. The German capital is realistically recreated at a scale of 1:1 and offers many famous sights to discover - be it the Victory Column, the Brandenburg Gate or Alexanderplatz.
In the Scania Citywide or other licensed buses, you sell tickets to passengers for their journey and experience Berlin anew through the changing times of day, seasons and weather. AI traffic with vehicles and pedestrians as well as complex traffic light systems bring the virtual city to life, and with various customization tools and editors such as the repaint function or mods, you can make The Bus your own.

This list will be regularly updated with new features and content during the Early Access phase:
TXL, 100, 123, 142, 147, 200, 245 and 300 bus lines with various routes
Original licensed buses from MAN, VDL and Scania
Different bus variants: MAN Lion's City double-decker, Scania Citywide LF solo and articulated bus, VDL Citea LLE solo and articulated bus, eCitybus solo bus, Galaxis Urban solo and articulated bus
Large and detailed 1:1 scale map of the German capital city Berlin
Many different points of interest in Berlin
Freeplay single player mode: Transport passengers on any line with the vehicle of your choice

User Reviews
Wow… this game is a masterpiece of chaos. Bugs everywhere, graphics straight from 2005, zero optimization, and the bus drives like it’s stuck on invisible train tracks. But hey, no problem — they just dropped a brand-new map as DLC for the bargain price of €29.95! And the best part? The game is still in Early Access. I wasn’t planning to write a bad review, but after seeing that DLC price, I think the bugs might be the most honest part of this whole thing. Early Access? More like Early Cash Grab — now with bonus bugs for free and a €29.95 map you didn’t ask for. At this point, the only thing running smoothly is their cash register. Because the dev repsonded very weird I must add this: The devs say they didn’t make the DLC themselves, that it was developed by another company — yes, it’s even stated on steam DLC page. Fair enough — but that’s not an excuse. It’s still content for their game, released under their name and with their approval. Responsibility ...
When you launch the game, a screen appears warning you that it's still in Early Access and that the performance isn't expected to be great. To me, that is all fair and square up until the point when the devs started releasing (expensive) DLC without fixing any of the bugs and especially without fixing the performance. Don't buy this "simulator", it is nothing more than a cash grab with great promises that are not being delivered on. Edit: Since a developer responded, I'd like to add the following. It doesn't matter to me who made the DLC or by whom it was published. I just don't think it is OK to release DLC for a game when it is still in such a rough state. Don't forget that this game has been in EA for years now and that it's still very rough performance wise. With the devs themselves saying that they "are well on our way to release", why not wait until the full release with releasing DLC? Once a full release for this game arrives, I will return to it to check whether it's bec...
I am pis... I bought a early acces game LOOONG time ago and the development is dead slow. Then they release a paid DLC within the early access period? WTF- DONT BUY, this game will never be finished.
I cannot recommend the game at this time. The game was released in 2021 and has been in early access ever since. One would therefore expect to be offered significantly more content. Even now, in August 2025, there is no economic system, no companies, only free rides on certain routes, without the possibility of seamlessly changing these routes in the game. Basically, the game doesn't look that good either; everything seems very artificial and strange, especially because of the NPCs. So, for just under 40€, you get a very undercooked bus simulator with a lot of potential. Unfortunately, updates are also very irregular, which would explain why it feels like nothing has happened in four years. Maybe buy it on sale or wait for the developers to finally make some progress.
Things they need to improve before I will recommend the game: Good driving simulation (Busses feel clonky, drive like a boat) Sound Simulation (Currently just generic engine sounds) Goddamn Optimization (Especially optimize the mirrors, my god. If you have FPS problems turn mirrors to low, will make them pretty much unusable though) Lower the price (at least currently) since nobody will buy an Early Access, not very popular and pretty mediocre game for over 30 bucks Remove Denuvo, not because of pirating reasons but because it takes up so much FPS and this game already struggles with that >> Give people a service good enough, that they don't want to pirate but support the developers. Nobody will buy this game for 30 Bucks with the mentioned Issues above.
Just another money milking "bus" simulator with nice screenshots, but when you get into game you can easily spot that most money should get the guy who make those. Game is nothing like on screenshots, buggy, performance vise needs at least triple 5090 to run nicely and most of all ... really? ... paid DLC for this mess? Out of respect for yourself, I think it’s best you stay away from this.
Its an unfinished mess, with very little hope of ever being completed. To release a paid for DLC while it's in this state tells you all you need to know.
The worst optimized game I have ever had the displeasure of playing. Runs like rdr2 on max settings, except this game looks like roblox. Shadows flickering and not rendering correctly etc.
My review reflects the current beta state (Beta 3.2). I am really optimistic about the future of this game, we finally have AI busses and it is overall the most immersive bus simulator I have tried. Expect this to take a hit on mid-level systems- it requires similar specs to what you would need to run current triple-A titles. However, it is well worth it. For a long time, this game was stuck in an incomplete alpha state- a lot of bugs and missing features such as no AI busses or trams; I had lost hope that it would get better- but the last few months have shown that this could become a really amazing title. There is also quite an active modding community on the steam workshop; which is promising for a long-term OMSI replacement.
