maybe I've been spoiled by Limbo and Inside? Planet Alpha's execution on "do occasional 2D puzzles in a strange world" seemed only very OK to me. Limbo and Planet Alpha both have the occasional puzzle that makes me go "ugh, I know what to do, can we just be DONE, already?" but Limbo also had AWESOME puzzles that made me feel like a smarty-smart clever boy. Planet Alpha wasn't doing that for me, and eventually, right or wrong, I got the feeling it wasn't going to, so I put the game down. I felt the same way about Planet of Lana, too. both Planets (Alpha, and of Lana) promise interesting worlds with mysterious stories to tell, but if I'm comparing "explore and vibe in the mysterious world" games, then the worlds and mysteries of Abzu, Gris, and Distance feel more engaging to me (though Distance has a bit more challenge, so may not quiiiiite fit in the category). I dunno: it's not like Planet Alpha is bad, but I replay Abzu and Distance every couple years; I'm not even going to finish ...

Devs abandoned this game! DO NOT GET IT! First off something positive the game does look good but that's about it. When first launching the game it loaded into steam VR for some reason. The game is not a VR game nor does it have VR support. The devs say launch game with options -nohmd command instead of trying to patch the issue. Now this does work but then the game crashes after playing for about 1 minute. But wait they have workaround for that also just pop this command into launch options cmd /c "set OPENSSL_ia32cap=:~0x20000000 && %command%". But really you shouldn't have to do all these work arounds for a game released in 2018 with these bugs they should have patched it back then. But even just the game play is hit or miss found the character not grabbing ledges doing jumps sometimes and other times grabbing perfectly. The gameplay itself is pretty poor having to die first to know what to do is pretty lame. I would avoid this game even on a sale!
